ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:14 PM) Coming into 2013, Skaggs was a top 10-15 prospect. I think the D Backs got the worst of the deal. Trumbo has been going backwards. Right. Dbacks got screwed, Angels made out awesomely, and the Sox are kind of just in the middle somewhere. Jake
And of course you have guys like Beck and Snodgress who are probably just a season away, if that
Dick Allen
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:12 PM) I know I'm going to get backlash for this, but what exactly is this surplus of pitching the Sox have? Guys like Rienzo can be found in every organization. I would guess that first round pick in 2014 is going to be a pitcher. I'm not worried about the Sox acquiring or developing pitchers. They seem to do that better than most. Edited December 10, 2013 by Dick Allen
hogan873
Well, the Sox traded somthing they had a surplus of for something that was needed. I'm okay with it. Let's hope another deal is made to move De Aza or Viciedo.

Struggles to put up a 2+ K/BB.
Jake
Well, Danish should be quite a bit more than a year away, even though he has the talent to surprise
Andy the Clown
Skaggs and Santiago for Trumbo? I know he makes a lot less money, but look at Trumbo's numbers vs. Adam Dunn's numbers and it's not like Trumbo is a magician with the leather. I was going to say that Skaggs must have a drinking or drug problem to be given away like that by the DBs.
Jake
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:18 PM) Snodgress doesn't impress me at all, actually. Struggles to put up a 2+ K/BB. I don't love him either, but he is indeed close to MLB by virtue of being a AAA starter this year in all likelihood. Does have a chance of putting things together. Good frame, some talent

fathom
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) So can guys like Santiago. 3.56 ERA with 8.4 K/9IP is pretty good
The Ultimate Champion
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:21 PM) So can guys like Santiago. If that were the case no one would ever give out $30M+ to the likes of Jason Vargas and Scott Feldman, nor would anyone ever trade for any pitcher less than a #3. Buehrle>Wood
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 07:21 PM) So can guys like Santiago. Young cost controlled starter with a career ERA of 3.30 and Ks 8.9 per 9? Doubt it. He needs to be a little more efficient but it's fixable. Beaten like a drum. Quin
QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:23 PM) And Bassit can be put in that convo as well. If Eaton pans out he could be a huge addition to the top of the lineup. He's stolen 38 and 44 bases in the minors before, had good walk numbers, and made contact. Hopefully the top of the lineup can be Eaton-Avi-JDA

witesoxfan
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:25 PM) 3.56 ERA with 8.4 K/9IP is pretty good I know you guys hate it and it's going to do nothing to change your mind, but his FIPs and xFIPs have been in the 4.4-4.7 range. He walks too many guys, doesn't throw enough ground balls, doesn't work deep into games, and was either really lucky/good/both about stranding runners. Andy the Clown
3.56 ERA with 8.4 K/9IP is pretty good He has a career xFIP of 4.66 in his career as a starter.
