bmags
Matt Davidson has got to be the most generic baseball name ever. That would be one of the first generated for a fake minor leaguer in a video game.
ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 05:06 PM) Matt Davidson has got to be the most generic baseball name ever. That would be one of the first generated for a fake minor leaguer in a video game. Yet there has only been 1 other Matt Davidson to ever play pro baseball, and he never made it out of the Cubs Rookie ball program.
bulokis
In a perfect world, it would have been nice to have Reed along with the other young guys. But he trade should be good for both teams.

caulfield12
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 04:32 PM) The NBA equivalent of this name was James Johnson. Or James Jones, which I'm pretty sure is a real name (UGA, I think).
Balta1701
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) Or James Jones, which I'm pretty sure is a real name (UGA, I think). So was James Johnson.
Princess Dye
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) So was James Johnson. Yes James Johnson was a real Chicago Bull. Not that his game translated to NBA reality. Kind of a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none...although take another layer off the jack-of-all-trades portion. So like, jack-of-nothing, master-of-nothing
daggins
I think Erik Johnson might be even more generic.
daggins
Matt Davidson Erik Johnson Tim Anderson Carlos Sanchez The Sox have some really boringly named prospects.

There have been 2 Matt Davidsons. 12 Eric/k Johnsons (9 with a "c", 3 with a "k") 3 Tim Andersons 12 Carlos Sanchezs 8 Jose Abreus 1 Keon Barnum
daggins
I was sad when Dusty Harvard was released. Really hope Storm Throne sticks around.

witesoxfan
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 06:09 PM) There have been 2 Matt Davidsons. 12 Eric/k Johnsons (9 with a "c", 3 with a "k") 3 Tim Andersons 12 Carlos Sanchezs 8 Jose Abreus 1 Keon Barnum Yes, those name combinations in general are rare. Most are. Tell me how many Johnson's, Anderson's, Sanchez's, and Abreu's have played. They are very generic names. They're not quite Rowand, Pierzynski, Konerko, or Crede. It's ok, just hope they're good.
oldsox
Someone posted earlier that he thinks Davidson will start season at Charlotte. I can't see it, unless Davidson is really horrible in ST. I really liked Reed, but I bet he is glad to get away from Giambi.
Y2Jimmy0
Not sure if this was already posted but it's pretty funny. Matt Davidson was doing an interview with Chris Rose and Kevin Millar and Reed happened to be in the background working out. Pretty funny stuff. almagest
Interesting article on Papelbon's decline - this is why I wouldn't mind seeing the Sox continue to make trades like this.
