Its just the hilarity of the internet these days. Anyone can post something random, its just who cares. Even if hes got an inside, hes going to be at what, 24 hours in front of the real news?

This isnt like D-Rose is going to be back tonight so you better watch...

Too soon?

Not too soon. It's a perfect example. Sorry Steve, but seriously, something catches fire and people run with it.

Once I was part of a marching band. We wore these really cool wristbands. A long, narrow band of cloud was above us. Doors are banded with iron to make them stronger, but the marching band is stronger than those doors. Oh and there was a band of caribou. Hope I don't get banned!

(I found 8 different definitions for band and used as many as I could)

Scout with team in pursuit of Tanaka believes Tanaka will look for a 7th year on a deal, or at least option years in addition to 6

Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 12m

Team exec over the weekend cautioned to me that offers are constantly changing in a sweepstakes as intense as Tanaka. Be mindful of that.

Re: Tanaka...have heard his agent and team execs involved keeping especially tight seal on talks. Lots of reporting seems to be speculation

Could we be strengthening our offer? I feel like he's referring to NYY, CHC and LAD in that first tweet.

That could favor Cubs, as they're supposedly interested in offering the most years. If it ends up being something like 7/140 (not including the posting fee), then I absolutely don't want the White Sox to get him.

I completely skipped over the latter half of the conjecture. Read the first sentence, saw it was Star Wars and Brony and Strawberry Shortcake talk and completely ignored it. It didn't even happen because I didn't immerse myself in it. Same as Ultimate Champion's horoscope or whatever and hi8is unicorn comments.

When a guy that has the obvious bias and track record of Loxas gets posted on here, I'm going to object and make my feelings known. If he turns out to be right, then I'll gladly eat my crow. I just don't buy his bulls***.

I'll take back my "don't post his stuff." If you want to, go ahead, but I think it's bulls*** and I think everyone on here does too, so what does it add in the end?

I agree loxas is full of s*** and doesn't know any more than we do but it is Tanaka related so it does fit the thread. IMO, since we're talking about a Japanese player that has been very hush hush, I think all rumors are just that, rumors, regardless of the source. So at this point, until Tanaka announces his decision all sources are pretty much equally full of s*** because of how quiet Tanaka and Close have been.

Besides, this cubs tool and his following is good for a laugh from a Sox fan perspective while discussing Tanaka and all.

My offer:

6/$126, player option (to opt in or out) after year 4, mutual option (which vests with 60 GS or 400 IP in the '18 and '19) for 7th year for $30 million with a $6 million buyout.

We can work with the numbers, but something like

'14-'19 - $20 mill

'20 - $30 mill or $6 mill buy out

This gives him the option to opt out after 4 years if he feels he can earn another mega contract (say another 6/$120 for $200 mill total), or gives him a potential $150 million through 7 years if he performs up to his capabilities.

Asked 2 agents where they think Tanaka will go. 1) Yankees, Cubs or Dodgers. 2) Yankees, Dodgers or Blue Jays. #speculation

I like it when he says (as close as possible) who the source is and emphasizes that it is based on, well, nothing. This is the kind of thing that doesn't stir people into a frenzy

LOL. Either everyone but one person is wrong or everyone reporting this stuff is just guessing.

You pick.

And does anyone think "White sox" when someone says "Chicago put up a big offer?" Maybe thats their problem.

And does anyone think "Mets" when someone says "New York put up a big offer?" The White Sox and the Mets- daily victims of misconception.

Tanaka derby nearing finish line.. #Cubs, #Dbacks, #WhiteSox, #Yankees among those seriously pursuing the right-hander.

"among those"

Meaning there could be more.

Just so you know, I'm pointing out the ambiguity in the tweet itself, not criticizing you. I appreciate the update. Not sure why Troy Renck - a beat writer for the Rockies - would have this scoop, but it's interesting.

Cotillo's stuff a put a little more faith in.

Because he's guessing.

Also negotiation becomes a lot more advantageous when people get desperate. Agent finds an assistant, leaks info to second tier reporters, they leak it, and so on. Easy to drive up the price.
