Swingandalongonetoleft
Brent Morel claimed by Blue Jays off of waivers Flee, flee for your lives! Had him mixed up with Brent Lillibridge until about half way through this post. Still applicable, I think. I'll always remember being present to witness him hit a 3 run shot against the Indians during the legendary Brent Ruth era of his career at the end of 2011 (Juan Pierre 2000th hit and Konerko Grand Slam to boot!). There were 12 people at the Cell that night, and that's including both teams, the umpires, and Hawk. And Juan Pierre counts twice.

Andy the Clown
We still have multiple players on the 40-man who could be dropped at a moment's notice (de Los santos, Heath, Molina, Mitchell), so we should not be precluded from continuing to improve the roster (cough...catcher....cough...). ScottyDo
This makes me sad. I really thought Morel would be league-average at least when all was said and done.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) We still have multiple players on the 40-man who could be dropped at a moment's notice (de Los santos, Heath, Molina, Mitchell), so we should not be precluded from continuing to improve the roster (cough...catcher....cough...). I honestly don't see a realistic option available for catching. I think Castro is going to cost Quintana, Grandal is going to cost Erik Johnson, and Lucroy is going to cost something in between those two. The Sox aren't in a position to be making trades like that.

I would sign John Buck for a year, probably only cost $3 to $4 million. He is not the long term answer but a definite upgrade over Flowers /Phegley
Balta1701
QUOTE (palehose1 @ Jan 3, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) I would sign John Buck for a year, probably only cost $3 to $4 million. He is not the long term answer but a definite upgrade over Flowers /Phegley His OPS the last 3 years are .683, .644, and .648 respectively. I mean it's possible that the guys we have are worse than that again...but man, I'd rather gamble on one of Phlowglieto turning into a reasonable option than paying $4 million for that unless we're really, really desperate for a veteran to handle young pitching.
