Scotty Po-Po did nothing but hit for a good average and steal bases with the best of them. Why do you reckon he bounced around so many teams and is currently a free agent? He seemed pretty reserved and enigmatic when he played for the Chisox..maybe not the best club house guy?

I'm pretty sure he was just fine in the clubhouse. The reason he bounced around so much is cause he was a light hitting, awful defensive of whose injuries destroyed his one plus tool.

Whoa, catching the ball like it's a falling brick does not make you awful defensively. That's talent.

I was actually thinking the same thing today (#randomness). I prefer him right now over De Aza

I'm not a big fan of De Aza, but there was about one thing that Pods did better... Be really fast. Other than that, Alejandro pretty well crushed Pods in every single category there is.

He was the main catalyst of the 2005 team and will never be forgotten

The career-year pitching from all of our starters was the catalyst. Pods did have a very strong first half for our mediocre offense before injuries slowed his second half. 15 steals, 14 caught stealings after the all-star break.

.281 vs .274 isn't a big deal.

RISP

De Aza .309/.515/.864

Pods .289/.396/.750

.289 RISP is acceptable. As for clutch, aside from his Yankees walk-off, I don't recall a De Aza moment as clutch as either the Pods Dodgers walk-off or Game 2. Podsednik is also faster and a better base stealer.

Because De Aza has all of those World Series AB's to be able to compare against... And Pods numbers are still not what De Aza's are there.

I suppose I meant to say base runner, not stealer. Remember how many bonehead plays ADA made on the basepaths this year?

No one will ever call De Aza a better base runner than Pods. That goes back to the being fast thing to. No one would argue that. The rest of it just isn't true. De Aza is still a way better hitter and outfielder than Pods ever was.

As the first batter of the game in 2005 he hit .333 with a .419 OBP. While he may not have been the best in high leverage situations, I loved watching him lead off games. He gets on, Iguchi moved him over, and he'd score on a sac fly or something. I wonder how many times we took a 1-0 lead in the first inning?
