He was my second favorite prospect ever after Reed. He was fun to watch. I was right about him though. (and I'm sure others here were as well, namely JPN) Just thought that Swisher deal was a win-win for both teams.. whoops.

I remember some didn't want to see Clayton Richard traded.

Remember the poster who commented after like 3 or 4 shutout innings from Richard that he was making Buehrle's contract look bad? lolz

I recall people being upset about losing Lumsden. Looking back at his numbers, I have no idea why.

He had a nice arm IIRC... I think a lefty SP prospect with a big curveball that could hit mid-90's with a developing change? Am I thinking of the right guy? I think shoulder problems did him in. And I think he had already lost some luster by the time we moved him; he was getting to the point IIRC (if not already was at that point) where he needed to be protected on the 40.

I argued like f*** over the Brandon Allen deal. He was a solid offensive prospect with huge raw power from the left side, took walks, and was progressing through the system. I personally liked him. We traded him for an arb-eligible reliever who couldn't retire opposite side batters who also was a failed closer. Basically he was an expensive righty specialist who, if he did suddenly became very good, was going to be immediately paid by the arb system. The deal was a dumb one to make but, because we traded an unproven player, it didn't end up hurting. My main problem with that deal wasn't trading Brandon Allen, it was the return, and the idea that if you can't get a better return than that then you don't make a deal, keep the prospect. It's one of the few Kenny moves I didn't like at the time & still don't now.

Boom. EXACTLY what I thought as well. In fact.. here is one of the Brandon Allen threads after the deal was made and what I said in the trade thread. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=1951608 Pretty much what you alluded to, except I thought he was overrated in our system all along.

I thought Swisher would be good. I liked Gio, but thought Swish made a ton of sense.

That sucked.

That deal, from a value standpoint, was perfectly fair.

Swisher was a dog though, easily my most hated Sox player. The Sox were trying so hard to back into the playoffs that year, the Twins just weren't refusing to lose, and then there'd be Swisher watching Strike 3 go right on by him to end the inning and strand another runner, and oh look whaddayaknow, another fun commercial with Swisher's doing to worm on the field. Great. The dump on the Yankees is still one of my favorite KW moments and ranks right up there with the table flipping and going all cokehead apes*** over Jon Rauch when he went to dinner with his family after a game.

I thought Ross Gload would be a Wally Joyner-type starting 1B. I thought Ehren Wassermann would be an effective late-inning reliever. I believed in Beckham being an all star-caliber 2B.

Prospects-wise, there were a ton of guys I thought would make it and be good who didn't. Nature of making predictions about prospects.

Brian Anderson (yes the old 1st rd pick OF) is trying to get back in baseball, I saw it on mlbtraderumors a few days ago. I thought he would be pretty good.

We, the Rowand's Rowdies, did correctly predict that the 1st year of the Rowand's Rowdies would produce a World Series, which it did.

However when we became Swisher supporters, although he was a cool guy that responded to emails, we were wrong...

Here's my most recent one. Due to luxury tax and crazy spending I did not think Tanaka would sign with the Yanks, I was wrong.

Hope Tanaka has thick skin and pitches well or that media will eat him up very quickly.
