Yup, they straight up cheated. And it's not like the Colts were given the same balls... Extremely unfair. They should lose ALL of their draft picks next year. I doubt the Colts would have beat them if the Patriots didn't deflate the footballs, but I don't think you can say they would have lost for sure either. There needs to be a stiff penalty for this. Just playing devils advocate. I thought each team provides their own balls edi: each team does provide their own. Now, thats not me saying that if the Colts had a disadvantage that caused them to lose the game, but it definitely was a disadvantage. Who knows, maybe Brady isnt able to grip the ball and has some fumble issues that give the Colts some points, maybe he throws a few picks. Either way, it is dirty pool. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/6513020 Under current NFL rules, each team provides a dozen footballs to use when it's on offense. The balls are supposed to be inspected, marked and checked during the game. In addition to the balls provided by each team, eight balls used for kicking are shipped directly to the referees by the manufacturer.

I would advocate multiple years of losing draft picks. They are not first time offenders and really should not get the benefit of the doubt. Are we supposed to believe this was the first time this stunt was pulled? Even if the Patriots win the Super Bowl, Tom Brady's legacy took a huge hit in my eyes
Middle Buffalo
$$$$ fine for Ol' Billy B $$$$ fine for Kraft Take 1st & 2nd round picks from them for next three years. Might seem harsh, but at this point they're repeat offenders and its institutional. They're not showing respect for "the Shield." Poor guy whose job it is to take the air out of the balls is probably getting his a$$ chewed for missing one. 11 of 12 is unacceptable. Kyyle23
I think its going to be handled as if it was a first time offense(and I dont agree with it). After the Ray Rice situation, the NFL set up everything that the commish could and could not do, and everyone kind of got a clean slate from that point. Y2Jimmy0
Seems to me like Chudzinski is Bears first choice for OC. For some reason, he isn't interviewing with Rams. He was either blocked from interviewing or staying with the Colts. Charlie Weis interviewed yesterday. My guess is that Chud can't be had, Weis isn't the right fit, and now they will lock up Adam Gase today.

Harry Chappas
Kraft and Goddell are as tight as Reinsdorf and Selig. They may lose a couple of picks and a six figure fine. The real punishment should be BB suspended for the game or 8 games next year.

Flat out cheating, and when it's not the first time, is a worse offense to the integrity of the league. Losing two firsts is not crippling or equal to the NCAA death penalty. You'd have to forfeit all your picks for 3 years to make that statement. Losing 2 first round picks at the end of the 1st round will not come close to crippling your franchise. There is a big difference between 2 first round picks and 3 first round picks and 3 second round picks. Edited January 21, 2015 by Boogua
