ptatc
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 09:02 AM) Eagles sign Riley Cooper to a 5 year, $25 mil contract with $10 mil guaranteed, but a gay player is too distracting for a NFL locker room to handle. Players are used to racists in locker rooms. Players are not used to gay players in locker rooms. It's all about player comfort levels.

Boogua
I'm starting to wonder where Sam goes in the draft, if he even gets drafted. He had an awful combine. He needs to improve his numbers quite a bit during his pro day or he might be looked at as an undrafted FA special teams type guy.

With how poor the combine was and his lack of experience as a stand up pass rusher, I'd put him in the 7th/UDFA right now.

Agreed. And I think it's unfortunate, in a way, because you know that some people will make this into a sexuality issue rather than a talent issue. I still think he can have a spot on a NFL team, but he's not even a mid-round pick at this point.

I still think he can have a spot on a NFL team, but he's not even a mid-round pick at this point. If he can increase his bench and speed by his pro day while looking better as an edge, stand up rusher, he might have a chance to go in round 4-6, but that's not a lot of time to increase a lot of bench reps. GoSox05
@AdamSchefter Salary cap projected to rise to about $133 million this year, expected to break $140 million next year and $150 million by 2016, per source You could see a lot of teams spending big money on their own players. Could make for a weak free agent market.

2nd_city_saint787
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 08:15 PM) Doubt it happens, but you've got to love him trying. Wish more athletes would recruit (ahem, Derrick Rose). I actually think there's a good possibility. That's just a guy feeling though. Bears have a lot of things they can do to create cap space. In the past couple days they've resigned Garza, Rosario, and Hayden, numbers haven't been released yet on Rosario or Hayden, but I can't imagine it's much more than 3M if that. So that puts the Bears at ~126M. That gives them 7M if the league cap is at 133. Releasing Peppers moves that number up near 17M. Then I can see cuts of Podlesh (1M), Earl Bennett (2.4M), and Bush (1.8) brings that number up over 22M. Then you have the whole Cutler deal that they can dip into if need be, and I also think Marshall gets an extension and they lower his cap hit a bit. Especially now with the word that the cap is rise so much over the next few years I think the Bears will backload the contract a bit and get him in here.
