soxfan49
I have a friend who works for the Bears who told me that Cutler is literally the definition of "first one in, last one out" in terms of work ethic. Anyone who says he doesn't care is going strictly off of body language.

GoSox05
That Buffalo defense is no joke. I knew they have a good front five, but that secondary played great yesterday. Packers really blew it and now may have to go into Seattle. They made a ton of mistakes, but a horrible game plan by McCarthy. They threw the ball 45 times on a day when Lacy was averaging over 6.5 yards per carry. Dumb.

Mario Williams is damn near unstoppable right now. It's amazing to think that the Texans, for 5 games, had both Mario Williams and JJ Watt. Frankly, I'm not sure there's a better 4-3 end in the game right now. The Bills really confused Rodgers in the secondary but it definitely wasn't all his fault. The Bills will be a scary team if they can get into the postseason, but that involves them beating both Oakland and New England, both on the road, and then getting some help too. witesoxfan
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 09:26 AM) Wite, what are they going to do at QB for next year? Take a run at a young veteran? RG3, Bradford? I have no idea, all I know is that I'm counting on them to screw it up. I also think Orton has been used because he gives them the best chance to win. It doesn't mean they've given up on Manuel, but the coaching staff was trying to save their jobs. It's certainly possible they've done that at this point, and they've been creative in the past about bringing talent in, but I have no idea what they're going to do at QB. Frankly, the QB doesn't even have to be someone that's good, it just has to be someone that's not bad. I have no problem with what Orton's done this year, but he's a bad QB. witesoxfan
That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but I think the Bears would have to cut Cutler before the Bills did something like that, and that contract he just signed had a ton of guaranteed money in it. Unless the Bears felt there was absolutely no way of coming back from it and releasing him was the only option, it'd be damn near impossible. I'll say it once and I'll say it 100 times...if the Bears wanted to, they would be able to trade Cutler. Bills are just one of a handful of teams that with a league average QB would be playoff teams. Rams / Texans go along with them and then you have a team like the Titans who wouldn't be a playoff team, however, they have always been high on Jay and fan base would support him from his Vandy days. I think Jay ends up in one of those 4 places, if the Bears make a wholesale organizational change (top down) and the new team isn't interested in keeping Jay and would prefer to start from scratch. I'd even say a team like Arizona might be interested, depending on Palmer's long-term health. They can't just waste that defense.

You would have to think their cap would be mangled next season if they brought cutler in too Probably true...I don't know all the nuances of the Palmer deal and how much was guarantee which ultimately will be a large driver of cap hit. Given his injury history, you would have thought they would have had some protection built in, but I don't know that for a fact. It is interesting, how, our organizational incompetence is making Jay look better and more mature, and that might actually allow us to truly start from scratch this off-season (if the franchise wanted to). By the way...I don't know if I endorse that or not. I think a lot of it comes down to where we are picking. It sickens me to say this, but I think Jameis is the franchise QB in this draft. But unless we brought in some real, powerful football people, to interview him and of course coach him and develop him (both as a person and a football player), I would be too worried about it turning into a disaster. Dude plays in an NFL system, massive pressure...yes he is an idiot, but Dilfer (in my opinion the best QB analyst in the game) just raves about him from his one on one's with him as well as watching film and just chatting with him. Say the guy just knows football and puts in the work. A lot of this comes down to that one case and what all the evidence was. If you throw that out (not saying you could...but if through interviews and everything, you felt comfortable he didn't do anything wrong)...than you could make a much bigger case that he is just a young guy who is growing up. Yes, his other actions were stupid...but they certainly weren't anything like the first allegation. More I type this...the more I don't know. Mariotta is obviously the safe bet, I just don't know that he is a pro QB. I have issues with him reading NFL defenses, etc. All I know is if we are going to go with a new QB, it is even more crucial to ensure we have a strong head coach and front office to hopefully make the right decision.
