I'm in the same boat.

Any reason why Dick Labeau wouldn't be considered as the DC? He's got a pretty decent resume...

Im guessing that he would most likely require a flip to 3-4, and Fox has been pretty much 4-3 everywhere he has been

There has been rumors of Mike Nolan or Mike Smith so if those are to be believed, he might be open to a 3-4.

I'm guessing it will be Dennis Allen.

Aside from del Rio, Fox would be my next best choice. I really like Jack del Rio, but Fox coming available after the other big targets were scooped up really worked out for the Bears. I'd have to say that I think the Bears had something in place with him which might be why he said f*** it on Denver.

I like Del Rio but I think Fox can develop a staff as well as develop the man better than Del Rio.

Nolan, Smith and Allan would all be great choices and number one reason why Fox is a good hire. I think he would get guys to work with him that younger coaches may not have.

Jay "Johnny Drama" Glazer

‏@JayGlazer

John Fox's new 4 year deal with the Chicago Bears is done. He is now the new head coach of Chicago! Done deal

finally, I'm more excited as to which coordinators he's bringing.

Same old cheap bears, right? they did the same thing they always do, right?

You aren't giving anyone crap for being skeptical are you? If there was one team that could screw this up, it's the Bears. They are the only team I know that held a press conference to announce the signing of a coach when said coach had not yet agreed to terms.

This entire offseason has been atypical of the Bears. Nobody wants to acknowledge that.

I am stealing this from lostfan's facebook post, but it seems apt here.

List of things people always say the Bears as an organization won't ever do that they actually did, and why people need to quit saying these things:

-Complete a blockbuster trade when the window presents itself (Cutler, '09, also Marshall, '12)

-Pay big money to a marquee free agent (Peppers '10, and as a bonus, now many of those people are criticizing it being a bad contract)

-Fire the GM/coach when they have money left on their contract (Angelo, and then Lovie)

-Fire someone so soon after the previous firing even if the need was clear (Trestman, Emery)

-Hire a GM who has no previous ties to the organization

-Hire a HC with no prior coaching experience

I'm happy. I'm very curious/excited to see who he brings in as assistants. I like the possibility of either Mike Smith or Dennis Allen as DC. And possibly Gase following him as OC. Would be a very legit HC/OC/DC trio.

Yes, but like diets, usually people fall back into their typical ways. Hopefully this means a new way of business for the Bears.

I think we just witnessed an NFL front office gastric bypass. Maybe a few years later it will go back to what it was, but it certainly isnt that way right now.

Or it's like saying that healthy person is going to go on a diet because the previous guy in that chair was on a diet!!

There's no sane/reasonable connection there.

Dick's comment was great, and this was perfect.

I'm going to go write headline's for Buzzfeed now.

1) Marshall wasn't a blockbuster. They gave up a 3rd round pick for him.

2) I don't know anyone who thought that deal was all that unreasonable. The backend he was being paid more than what he produced, but I think most understand he was probably underpaid for the production have gave in the first few seasons.

3) I suppose, though the complaints are more about waiting too long to fire people. On top of hiring mostly terrible people to begin with.

4) See 3.

5) They're now 1 for 13 in that department.

6) They're now 1 for 12
