2nd_city_saint787
So now for 2015(yes I'm randomly looking ahead) the Bears have..... QB-Cutler/Fales RB-Forte/Carey WR-Marshall/Jeffery/Wilson TE-Bennett/(Onubun) LT-Bushrod LG-Slauson C- ? RG-Long RT-Mills DE-Allen/Houston/Young DT-Ratliff/Ego/Sutton LB-Bostic/SMC/Greene/(Jones) CB-Jennings/Fuller/Frey SS- Mundy FS- Vereen All signed. They're also gonna have ~30M in cap space. If they get 3 of those LBs to step up and the rookies prove to be starting quality, that's an awful lot of money for not a lot of needs. Center is the only position not accounted for and I can almost guarantee the Bears resign Brian De La Puente to fill that roll. Just found that a little interesting. EDIT- And those are just the "key guys" right now they have 47 guys signed for next year. Edited May 19, 2014 by scs787
Soxfest
Bears signed WR Brandon Marshall to a three-year, $30 million extension through 2018. In what we believe is a first, Marshall signed his deal live on the daytime talk show "The View." The extension is tacked onto the $9.3 million he was previously owed in 2014, putting Marshall on the books for $39.3 million over the next four seasons. The "new money" includes $23 million guaranteed. It's a ton of coin for a sometimes mercurial player on the wrong side of 30, but Marshall has certainly earned it with on-field dominance. Since joining the Bears two years ago, he's averaged 109 catches for 1401.5 yards and 11.5 touchdowns per season. With Bromance partner Jay Cutler and quarterback whisperer Marc Trestman locked in place, we don't see a letdown coming anytime soon. bmags
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 19, 2014 -> 06:38 PM) Why do they call Marc Trestman the quarterback whisperer? Mainly for his reputation with QBs and the play that came out of Josh McCown and Jay Cutler last year.
DrunkBomber
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 19, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) Why do they call Marc Trestman the quarterback whisperer? He started in the NFL as a QB coach and over the years as a QB coach/Off Coordinator guys like Kosar, Steve Young, Scott Mitchell, Jake Plummer, Rich Gannon and last season McCown all thrived with him. Anthony Calvillo also put up huge numbers for him in MTL.
clyons
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 19, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) Why do they call Marc Trestman the quarterback whisperer? What they said above. Its a take off from the book and movie "The Horse Whisperer," about a horse trainer.
witesoxfan
Could you imagine if, instead of it being about that, Trestman talked normally to everyone else but whispered to quarterbacks? For comparison's sake, the average H/L in East Rutherford for the same day is 41/24. Yes, that is going to be a cold ass Superbowl.
