ptatc
QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 01:05 PM) Yeah, I don't see Martin at fault at all here. He was like prey and was trying to deflect until they went away. They never did. He could have been fine in most locker rooms. The worst is that he did have the courage to confide in everyone that he was having a problem and that only accelerated the harassment. He was basically a "soft" player and the others were told to "toughen" him up. It happens in all locker rooms. Luckily most don't have a moron like Incognito and group that took it way too far. They all should be punished however since they can play all will continue to get chances. Martin I'm not so sure about. He wasn't particularly good to begin with and this won't help. I'm sure someone will give him a chance and it will be up to him to make the most of it.
zenryan
QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) Marginal player probably isn't the right way to describe it. There are some who see serious star potential and others who see a nice talent with no position. It isn't like your average "not sure if this guy is good enough" anyone saying serious star potential is just caught up in the moment.
Quin
Sam was the best defensive player in the SEC and projected as a 3rd round pick. How is that marginal? I'd love him on the Bears with our defensive woes and his motor.

How is that marginal? I'd love him on the Bears with our defensive woes and his motor. MMQB he's the defensive player of the year in the best conference but he's projected in the middle rounds at the earliest. Why is that? He had what, 12 sacks? 3 vs Arkansas St, 3 vs Vandy and 3 vs Florida in a 4 week stretch. He was getting his stats against the weaker teams he faced. He should be a mid-round pick. I'm just saying, he's not a marginal NFL player who should be undrafted.
bmags
Again, Vandys offensive tackle he did that against Will be in the NFL. He also had high TFL and if everyone racked up that production vs weaker competition 10 sacks in college wouldn't matter. Even when Sam didn't get to the QB he'd have good pressure. When Sam got extra attention Ealy took off. Surprise surprise. Sam has really good potential as a specialist, but needs to work on being a linebacker or being a full time DE vs run. Boogua
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 06:37 PM) Sam was the best defensive player in the SEC and projected as a 3rd round pick. How is that marginal? I'd love him on the Bears with our defensive woes and his motor. 3rd to 5th. He could have easily gone later too depending on the combine and other factors. People are trying to make him look like a better prospect than he is to try to blame his draft position on him being gay. It's ridiculous.

Why is that? He had what, 12 sacks? 3 vs Arkansas St, 3 vs Vandy and 3 vs Florida in a 4 week stretch. He was getting his stats against the weaker teams he faced. The thing people said when I asked why he was only a middle-round projection is that he's somewhat undersized compared to most DE's and it's unclear whether he'd be successful as an OLB. In college you can get away with being undersized because the offensive lines aren't nearly as big as the guys in the NFL.

Soxbadger
Sounds like he was into duos and not having to work for them. (edit) Im also kind of surprised they listed what drug he used. I wouldnt think theyd want people copying him. I was responding to him stating that Lane is the replacement for Peppers. Not anything about the depth of the line. If he said "More D Line depth" as opposed to "replacement for peppers" I wouldnt have said anything. But if this is the Bears plan to replace Peppers as the starting end, that is terrible.
