witesoxfan
You guys have it all wrong. The best way to cook a steak is with a washing machine. And then an Adam Dunn dryer. Edited February 6, 2014 by witesoxfan

Balta1701
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 03:29 PM) This is silly. The Sox do need pitching. It is the price that people are balking at. If they signed cheap guys to minor league contracts no one would say, they have pitching, why sign another guy even it the price is small? The only poster saying there isn't innings for another pitcher is Balta. So he is the only one who can say the Sox don't need another pitcher. They need several and always will. You're 100% right. There are plenty of innings for guys on minor league contracts and I'd have zero problem with additional ones of those guys.
The Ultimate Champion
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) You're 100% right. There are plenty of innings for guys on minor league contracts and I'd have zero problem with additional ones of those guys. Those guys generally suck though. When you are rebuilding you might as well do everything you can to give ABs and IP to players with some sort of upside, otherwise you're just filling space. Count me in the non-believer Surkamp camp as well. The curve is very nice, change pretty good too, but that fastball is very much a Carlos Torres/Dylan Axelrod pitch and when he's not getting his offspeed stuff over he's gonna get shelled. Paulino is the hope in our 5th starter "battle" but I'd much rather either have a proven quality arm or at least a SP prospect with some real upside in that mix. Marty34
Say Paulino has a good year, I don't see how it helps the rebuilding effort enough to rule out signing a Jimenez or Santana.

GreenSox
We do need more pitching. We can sign one of these guys, spend a lot of money and use a big % of the budget, give away a draft choice, and we'll still need more pitching.

hogan873
Maybe we should contact Rick Hahn and ask him to post something along the lines of "I said we will not sign a player that requires we give up a draft choice, so stop f***ing talking about it." There is a lot of things that are discussed on this board that are never going to happen, and just because a White Sox official says something will not happen, it doesn't mean it will not. Offseason baseball is mostly hypotheticals. One of the great things about this board is that if there is something you would rather not read or discuss, you aren't obligated to open those threads, Edited February 7, 2014 by Dick Allen
