cabiness42
Russians quickly went up 2-0, but Slovenia is hanging in there. Its basically Anze Kopitar on a rec league team but they are making the home fans nervous. Nothing to be nervous about in the US game. 5-1 now. Slovakia changing goalies, because you know, it's the goalie's fault that the US is getting all those point blank shots.
cabiness42
LOL, 6-1 now, and with goal differential being a tiebreaker in medal round seeding, I don't see this stopping anytime soon.

whitesoxfan99
What an epic choke job by the USA long track speed skating team in this Olympics. Davis has been the best in the world in the 1000 on the men's side and Richardson and Bowe the two best in the 1000 on the women's side and all 3 come up empty and weren't even competitive for medals. cabiness42
I'm not watching the game, but a scoreless first against NOR has to be a bit of a disappointment for CAN. Especially when goal difference is a tiebreaker and the US is already +6 in their group.

RockRaines
I bet the Hawks would be even better with the olympic ice and rules. Such better hockey.

farmteam
I wish the NHL played on Olympic sized ice. Too bad that won't happen.
SHAH
QUOTE (farmteam @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) I wish the NHL played on Olympic sized ice. Too bad that won't happen. Why not? don't know the history of it. But why is NHL against it when all of the world plays on Olympic sized ice.
cabiness42
Why not? don't know the history of it. But why is NHL against it when all of the world plays on Olympic sized ice. Because the NHL shares most of its arenas with NBA teams and the NBA teams don't want the seats any further from the court than they already are. RockRaines
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) Because the NHL shares most of its arenas with NBA teams and the NBA teams don't want the seats any further from the court than they already are. Also the "close quarters" leads to more physicality.

And existing stadiums would have to be retrofit for new ring sizes, and I m sure no one wants to foot the bill for that.
Harry Chappas
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 13, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) Because the NHL shares most of its arenas with NBA teams and the NBA teams don't want the seats any further from the court than they already are. NBA is not the reason it is the lost revenue of the ten rows of seats surrounding the ice that is the issue. The NBA rolls out folding chairs and portable seats now. The NHL losses its highest ticket priced seats and a lot of them.
