southsider2k5
The White Sox and pitcher Jose Quintana do not plan to discuss an extension during spring training, Cotillo tweets. Quintana, 25, posted a 3.51 ERA with 7.4 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 in 200 innings in 2013. He will likely be eligible for arbitration next offseason as a Super Two player. BlackSox13
No big hurry, see how things go this season and go from there.
LittleHurt05
Smart move. No hurry given his service time, make him prove that he is legit.
Jose Abreu
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 16, 2014 -> 08:49 PM) Smart move. No hurry given his service time, make him prove that he is legit. I think he's already proven himself, but I agree that it's smart.
Heads22
I wonder which side doesn't plan to talk? Or if it's mutual.
The Ultimate Champion
It's probably being held up on both ends. Q's side should wait to see what he projects to receive as a 1st year arb player because that will probably scale a lot better than what the Sox would want to buy him out at in year 1 of arb. But yeah, after you get a handle on what he's going to be starting at in arb then you definitely want to try to extend him because in the arb process things can get really out of control. And the white sox probably want to make sure his arm won't fall off after three consecutive seasons of increased work load
The Ultimate Champion
Hahn should call up Cashman and offer Q to the Yankees for 3 of their top prospects. Then when Cashman says he'll get the paperwork ready Hahn can laugh in his face and say, "I was just kidding you dumbf***."
Quin
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) Hahn should call up Cashman and offer Q to the Yankees for 3 of their top prospects. Then when Cashman says he'll get the paperwork ready Hahn can laugh in his face and say, "I was just kidding you dumbf***." Not only is this weird (I seriously don't get the context), but that would kill Hahn's future ability to make any deals.
Eminor3rd
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) Not only is this weird (I seriously don't get the context), but that would kill Hahn's future ability to make any deals. Because the Yankees released Q from the minors initially. I don't think TUC really wants Hahn to do this, though, lol.
