LittleHurt05
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) Yankees have no hits thru 6. Only 76 pitches for Alex Cobb. And Chris Young walks them off, 3 run bomb.

SoxAce
Gotta feel for the pitcher Friers there too. He was clearly shaken up. Hasn't hit a batter since 2012 then hits Stanton and Reed Johnson in consecutive at bats. Edited September 12, 2014 by SoxAce

flavum
https://twitter.com/JoeFrisaro/status/510292539190943744 Giancarlo Stanton suffered a facial laceration requiring stitches, multiple facial fractures and dental damage Just terrible. I guess it's a good thing that it wasn't in the eye, and the season is almost over. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is ready to go in February. I guess it's a good thing that it wasn't in the eye, and the season is almost over. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is ready to go in February. Get well soon Stanton. The other thing this does is potentially screw up the Marlins off-season. This is probably they year they have to trade Stanton, and now no one knows how he will come back from this. Could it affect his mind at the plate? For $200+ million, and a small country worth of baseball players, as small as the chance is, teams will want to know before taking a chance like that. Fractures will heal, no surgery expected There is no way he should be allowed to return this season unless they go deep in the playoffs. Fractures take 4-6 weeks to heal. Facial fractures can be very small bones and need at least this time. He is putting alot at risk returning earlier than that.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but the back of the billboard at USCF facing the Dan Ryan, that has for years said 2005 World Champions and then they had Big Hurt banner out it, now has a Paulie banner. almagest
I thought this was interesting from today's Keith Law chat: Cindy (Charlotte) Do you think it is possible that the Braves can find a hitting coach who can help Andrelton Simmons learn how to hit? He takes some of the worst/most off balance swings I have ever seen and he has gotten much worse in the past year. Klaw (2:28 PM) I think - just observation/speculation - that he's trying more to hit for power when he should be focusing just on making contact. And yes, Atlanta has had a pretty dismal run of ineffective coaching on the hitting side. BJ Upton strikes me as exhibit A. Isn't Greg Walker still there?
