And if you were Trout's family....would you honestly be thinking, we could STILL be getting $300-500 million in four years...or $144.5 million guaranteed? That's a huge risk, and there's still a very good opportunity for him to get another huge contract when he's 29 or 30, like Pujols ended up with, or Josh Hamilton.

Once you start talking about contracts over $100 million, it's pretty much setting up your entire family for the next 3-5 generations.

It's not like the Salvador Perez deal where he's only guaranteed $14 million or so...of course, that was based on 2 months of play in the big leagues, not 2 years.

Tests on @Royals 2B Omar Infante reveal he suffered a non-concussive head injury when he was struck by a pitch last night.

Infante received 6 stitches, has sprained right jaw. He will be evaluated over next 48 hours; it does not appear he’ll miss extended time.

Thumb surgery for Josh Hamilton. 6-8 weeks. Sliding into first base. YOU HEAR THAT, ADAM EATON?

Harrelson brought up Puig and Hamilton in the game today.

"Dumbest play in baseball..." said he would bench players who did it.

The Astros game last night drew a 0.0 rating.

That's bound to happen when only 15% of the people in Houston can actually watch the games.

The games are blacked out in Austin, which has a decent amount of Astros fans, yet nobody is able to watch it because no cable companies carry CSN Houston here.

This is getting ridiculous.

IMHO. Too many pitchers trying to throw too hard. This is the downside of the ever increasing use of the bullpen. The pitchers have it their mind that a 6 inning effort is a quality start. So they throw harder more often because they don't need to conserve the effort for later innings.

Yes, but 0.0 in April is pretty bad. They had a 0.0 last year but it was last September in the middle of a 15 game losing streak with the Texans playing at the same time. You figure enough would be watching they could garner a 0.1.

The best comment I heard about all of this stuff was basically that we have become very good at repairing this injury that used to eliminate countless players at various ages. On the other hand, we're woefully underinformed on what causes it in the first place in comparison. This is why we suddenly have people re-injuring, which was so unheard of. We fixed it, but we didn't fix the player. We don't know if it was his motion, workload, genetics, all of those things, etc.

Treat the symptom, forget the cause.

Billy Beane picks up a $10 million a year closer, which seems to fly against all he believes in, (as much as I think you should not be afraid to pay relievers, $10 million for Jim Johnson doesn't scream value to me at any angle) and said closer loses his closing role after 5 appearances.
