chw42
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 07:42 PM) dont know if its just me, but i thought nothing of donaldsons tag and no reason for to machado to get so worked up about it? play I swear, baseball players get offended over nothing these days. That wasn't even that hard of a tag. And Conor Gillaspie should watch what Donaldson did on that play. Cause that's what he should have done last Monday, except Conor didn't even have to tag the runner, all he had to do was tag 3rd. Soxfest
The Twins and Kendrys Morales have agreed to a one-year contract worth a prorated portion of $12 million. That means that Morales, pending he passes his physical, will earn in the neighborhood of $7.6 million this season. No word yet on what a corresponding roster move may be once he does sign, but Jason Kubel is a candidate to be designated for assignment. Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) What a waste for the Twins. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw either of the Twins draft pick relievers: Nick Burdi or Michael Cederoth in the big league bullpen this year as well. Dick Allen
Morales is one guy to keep an eye on. With Paulie and Dunn leaving after this season, he could be a nice replacement. The guy didn't exactly choose a hitter's paradise to come back to play in, so that could cost him some money in the offseason. But he has to show something, obviously. The guy didn't exactly choose a hitter's paradise to come back to play in, so that could cost him some money in the offseason. But he has to show something, obviously. I'm guessing the Twins are really TRYING to convince their fans they can compete for a WC this season. Signing all those pitchers, now Morales, and then the fast-moving relievers that could be added to the major league pen in the final 2-3 months. Considering the set-backs with Buxton and Cano, they/Ryan must be starting to feel the pressure of losing too much of their fanbase in that new(er) stadium. caulfield12
http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/...partner=ya5nbcs Shades of KW in the Dodgers' deal (Berry/Barry), although this time the Phillies "accidentally" gave up a #8 prospect in the best system in the game. Can't imagine how often that would be brought up by Sox fans if the same situation happened and Domingo Santana went on to become an All-Star. Just say you were frustrated, and acted like an idiot. He's just embarrassed that it was such a s***ty bat toss, he was aiming for the pitcher. I bet he gets a ten-game suspension, then appeals it down to five. What's the point of handing out suspensions if every single one is appealed and reduced in half? Y2Jimmy0
Gregory Polanco is being called up for the Pirates tonight. My girlfriend is a Pirates fan and she has family in Pittsburgh. I was in town and at the game a few years back when Alvarez debuted and it was nuts. It's a really fun city and they have a pretty smart fan base. I wish I was there tonight. He seems like the kind of guy who can be a lefty masher now and eventually evolve into a decent regular every day player.
