Andy the Clown
I just don't think organizational depth is a reason to sell low. That was the rationale to give Quentin to the Padres, for example. You guys severely underrate Murphy.
Andy the Clown
There was a time when folks were drooling all over themselves for Jesus Montero, a Yankee catching prospect. Now they mention some minor league guy and want to dump Gordon Beckham for an unproven prospect. Amazing Except Beckham is a piece of trash. 2009 is over folks. Feeky Magee
Baseball America moved Murphy from #18 to #4 on the Yankees top prospect list from 2013 to 2014. Fangraphs from #15 to #2.
Jose Abreu
QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 05:26 PM) Of course, Flowers tested positive 8 years ago for god knows what 8 years ago? No wonder I didn't know, he was playing Rookie Ball.
ChiSoxJon
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 06:33 PM) Baseball America moved Murphy from #18 to #4 on the Yankees top prospect list from 2013 to 2014. Fangraphs from #15 to #2. Swap Keppiloser for him, I don't care if he's Phegley 2.0, dump that contract and gain a prospect, do it Hahn
Feeky Magee
Keith Law also had him in his 10 prospects who just missed out on the top 100 overall.
GreenSox
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 02:38 PM) Selling low on Beckham? Do you still think this is just a four season-long slump? The improvement was 103 games of 88 wRC+. Also, if he was recently showed improvement, wouldn't it be selling high? Who are we talking about here...Murphy? I guess that would be okay. I wouldn't do it, but I can see it. Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 05:23 PM) You guys severely underrate Murphy. Yes to this. Many people are underrating Murphy. He's 22 and much better than anything in the Sox system currently. I am not really sure why people keep comparing him to Phegley. Kind of different players. harfman77
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 07:12 AM) Yes to this. Many people are underrating Murphy. He's 22 and much better than anything in the Sox system currently. I am not really sure why people keep comparing him to Phegley. Kind of different players. They aren't. Minor league profiles are similar, both are offense first catchers, JR Murphy is Josh Phegley without missing time for injuy/illness. Too many people get caught up in the Yankee prospect hype machine. I would take him for Keppinger, other than that, pass.

Isn't their entire problem now that their minor league system has produced nothing?

Isn't their entire problem now that their minor league system has produced nothing? It has produced nothing, but that hasnt stopped them from trading overhyped prospects like Montero. That one didnt work out for them because Michael Pineda's arm fell off, but it still happens for the Yankees
justBLAZE
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) Don't want PED users on this team. Keep Cervelli as far away as possible. Already have one on the team, just trade them Flowers, its 1 for 1 swap then.

Amazing Can you imagine if we had dumped Chris Sale for a major league veteran just because Chris was "an unproven prospect"?

By the time Sale was eligible to be traded, he was a lot more than an unproven prospect.
