Balta1701
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 03:21 PM) One thing that I noticed typing up some of these names is that I forgot some good prospects & didn't feel it necessary to include much in the way of fringe types or specialist/MR prospects. Other years guys like Bassit, Veal, and Leesman would immediately come to mind when thinking of this system, but things are developing to the point where we have some more interesting names to watch. Maybe we even have a few players like May, Beck and Danish turn into premium prospects while guys like Snodgress move up. We seem to be pretty thin in pitching though. Not many names to consider it seems when it comes to truly interesting SP without immediately dipping into Montas/Olacio territory. I think we need to focus on big arms probably with our 3-4 of first 5 picks this year if possible, get some more SP in here. Beck, Johnson, and Danish are all that excite me & the rest are just kind of interesting. Personally, no guarantees of course but I think, between Beck sitting down at AA and more arms than we can count at Charlotte, the org's pitching will look pretty strong again coming out of this season. Not sure it'll look so strong that we'll be able to trade away a starter again, but I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case at all. ILMOU
Here's a scale to use: 0 = never plays in the Bigs 1 = cup of coffee/outright bust 2 = useful role player or specialist for a couple years 3 = very useful bench/backup/utility/MR option 4 = borderline starting position player OR high quality setup man OR 5th starter, several seasons in the bigs 5 = average starting position player all around OR quality closer OR #4 type of starter, several seasons in the bigs 6 = above average starting position player all around OR dynamite closer OR #3 starter 7 = generally an All-Star level position player OR #2 type of starter 8 = perennial All-Star position player OR true ace SP 9 = HOF candidate Here are the names, no particular order: Jose Abreu-8 Keon Barnum-2 Rangel Ravelo-4 Marcus Semien-4 Micah Johnson-5 Carlos Sanchez-3 Leury Garcia-2 Clelius Rondon-0-1 Connor Gillaspie-3 Matt Davidson-5 Trey Michalscaweersdfski-too soon, but 4 Avisail Garcia-5 Dayan Viciedo-4 Adam Eaton-6 Jordan Danks-2 Jared Mitchell-1 Trayce Thompson-1 Keenyn Walker-0 Adam Engel-4 Jacob May-6 --- Chris Sale-8-9 Jose Quintana-6 Erik Johnson-6 Chris Beck-4-5 Scott Snodgress-3 Daniel Webb-5 Nate Jones-5 --- Courtney Hawkins-4 Tim Anderson-6 Andre Rienzo-4 Tyler Danish-

Strikeouts? Defense? I've noticed almost everyone is down on Viciedo as well...although I honestly have no idea who's going to be considered the better player 3-5 years from now, Avisail Garcia or Dayan Viciedo. Seems he's getting the benefit of the doubt, because everyone's so familiar with Viciedo already...although there's not a huge age difference really.
