NorthSideSox72
Read it here. Should be interesting to see what happens to all these guys.
Señor Ding-Dong
I see no point in keeping Zaleski and Pena Jr. in the organization any longer. That still leaves a ton of guys though.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) I see no point in keeping Zaleski and Pena Jr. in the organization any longer. That still leaves a ton of guys though. Zaleski is kind of a fun story. Dude is going into his 11th year with the same org, all in the minors. How often does that happen? But yeah, he doesn't seem to present any value beyond novelty.

Nothing wrong with that. You need those from time to time.
The Ultimate Champion
Are there any rules at all re: how many players you can keep in Arizona at the training facilities? Because if not then no reason to rush anything. If the Sox are fine paying out all these MiLB salaries and the nonprospects receiving them are fine continuing on playing baseball and attempting to live off them, no harm no foul. Just send the prospects to Charlotte and the others to extended ST. Edited March 12, 2014 by The Ultimate Champion
NorthSideSox72
Arroyo gone, a few other moves... still have this list of AAA possible/probables: ALREADY ASSIGNED TO CHARLOTTE: Rienzo (Starter) Surkamp (S) Leesman (S) Molina De Los Santos LIKELY REST OF STAFF AT THIS POINT: McCray (S) Axelrod (S) Petricka Heath Omogrosso Purcey T Thompson EVERYONE ELSE IN NO REAL ORDER: Zaleski Carroll Sal Sanchez Kussmaul Frazier Pena Jr Crawford Doyle Cleto Poveda Robles Plus then someone like Beck, McCully or Vance could sneak in from AA. oldsox
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 21, 2014 -> 02:26 PM) Arroyo gone, a few other moves... still have this list of AAA possible/probables: ALREADY ASSIGNED TO CHARLOTTE: Rienzo (Starter) Surkamp (S) Leesman (S) Molina De Los Santos LIKELY REST OF STAFF AT THIS POINT: McCray (S) Axelrod (S) Petricka Heath Omogrosso Purcey T Thompson EVERYONE ELSE IN NO REAL ORDER: Zaleski Carroll Sal Sanchez Kussmaul Frazier Pena Jr Crawford Doyle Cleto Poveda Robles Plus then someone like Beck, McCully or Vance could sneak in from AA. Northsider, why would they keep Purcey, Heath, Omogrosso, and Molino?
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 22, 2014 -> 08:15 AM) Northsider, why would they keep Purcey, Heath, Omogrosso, and Molino? Purcey is a major league-ready LHR, and they don't have any others. Molina was a prized trade return who they only recently converted back to relief, so they'll give him a chance. Omogrosso has major league experience as well, and isn't a bad arm to have as depth. Heath? No idea why he's still around. Doesn't have the major league experience Omo and Purcey have, doesn't have any potential ceiling left I can see... I don't get it.
ILMOU
I wonder if they'll continue to start Leesman, or just prepare him for the inevitable LOOGY role. May depend on their desire to see someone else get starts in Charlotte. Beck, most likely if they choose to be aggressive. Looks like Webb could be there too, if Cleto is given an MLB shot. If he has to switch to throwing 5 pitches, can he pick up a few extra mph?
ILMOU
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2014 -> 11:01 AM) If he has to switch to throwing 5 pitches, can he pick up a few extra mph? That's what I'd like to know. He's had his shots as a starter and hasn't fared great against righties. Time to move forward, imo.
NorthSideSox72
Field has narrowed significantly here. These guys have been assigned to Charlotte or have said they will be there: Jake Petricka Javy Guerra Scott Carroll Andre Rienzo Eric Surkamp (L) Dylan Axelrod That leaves 6 spots, maybe 7 if they go a 3 man bench, to be taken from: Stephen McCray David Purcey (L) Taylor Thompson Sean Bierman (L) Mitchell Boggs Matt Zalezki Ryan Kussmaul Evan Crawford (L) Zach Putnam Deunte Heath Bryan Blough Jake Floethe (could be in W-S) David Cales (could be in W-S) David Putman (could be in W-S) Bolded are my current guesses for Charlotte. And Bierman, Cales and Blough are on other teams as well. Charlotte roster should be out today and we'll finally know.
ILMOU
Looks like Olacio bumped up to the Dash. Lots of movement: Anderson, May, Barnum also at WS, Michalczewski, Engel at Kanny Edited April 2, 2014 by Stan Bahnsen
