oldsox
If he really isn't in shape, Sox should start season with Dunn on the DL. Can't keep him there forever, I know, but I'd rather see Tank or JDanks get extra AB's. Anybody, really.

ptatc
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 09:36 AM) Because Soriano is still somewhat useful and Z was an Ozzie project. Cubs still ate about $39M of the $46M remaining and they'd been trying to do this deal for a long time. Cubs ate $15.5M of the $18M owed to him. In total the Cubs ate about 85% of Soriano's deal and 86% of Zambrano's deal. If the Sox ate 85% of Dunn's deal they'd eat $12.75M leaving the acquiring team paying $2.25M. Which is probably a little much for Dunn, maybe $1.5M is more likely, meaning the Sox would eat 90%, 4% more than Z and 5% more than Zambrano. So yeah you win nothing and your candy s*** I will have you know mixes very poorly with overrated imported beer. And Morgan Freeman doesn't drink that crap, he drinks Miller High Life Light with me & reads me stories while I drift off to sleep. I now understand all of your opinions. The Ultimate Champion
QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 15, 2014 -> 08:12 AM) Maybe you should get a new friend. Why would he? To quote a great man, "Mama always said stupid is as stupid does." BTW re: another one of wite's many gems in this thread, actually I did see a heavily bearded crazy Jesus homeless man today in the Menards parking lot. True story. He looked to be pushing what was more of a kiosk than a shopping cart which had I think balloons or something all over it that spelled out "Jesus Loves Everyone" in big colorful letters. Now I could have been a dick like wite would have certainly been and asked him a bunch of bulls***ty questions just to get a laugh out of it, but unfortunately for me I actually feel for the homeless & I think that if your beliefs are all you have in this world and you're just out there trying to spread a positive message then good luck to you no matter how crazy those beliefs are. And BTW this guy had style too, it looked like he spent a lot of time working on his 4-wheeled Jesus kiosk & had probably spent a good amount of his diving time behind the nearby Hobby Lobby & Jo-Ann Fabrics stores. Maybe he hit Bed Bath & Beyond too, which is also something wite wouldn't do because I'm sure wite would rather go inside the store & pay full price for his overrated home & beauty products rather than get them free out of the trash like a more intelligent individual. And Adam Dunn is still terrible and still needs to go.

Hell, he'd be lucky to even get a guaranteed MLB contract. Check Thome, Jim for a recent example of a better hitter with a better career coming off a better season & still no one wants him. And what's Thome now anyway? 40 or so? Jim Thome still is a better hitter than Adam Dunn, no bulls***, I'd absolutely f***ing bet on it. And Thome's a better leader too and actually gets it. Baseball brain vs. donkey brain. Dump Adam & make the DH spot the Paulie & Jimmy farewell tour instead. Agree, which is exactly why a DeAza/Viciedo DH situation with a legitimate CF in Jordan Danks as a backup makes us both a much better team AND gives us the chance of building the values of DeAza & Viciedo both to the point where Hahn can get something pretty nice back for our future. If a 25 year old outfielder has a really good season and improves dramatically, you're going to turn around and trade him? If they had that kind of crystal ball, they would have traded Phil Humber, Bobby Jenks, Joe Crede, etc. Then you're only going to put yourself through another 2-3 year "transition/development" process with yet another young player with no guaranteed future results, ala Avisail Garcia. Hopefully not. But I'd much rather do that and get a difference maker later on than dump the guy for scraps at his lowest point of value. Dunn's value *could* go up from where it is now, but it's not going to ever get to the point where you're even remotely excited about the return. Viciedo OTOH could bring in a small haul, and DeAza? He's a great trade chip if he has a decent year. As a LF/CF he could plug in at one of those positions on another team, he could be a 4th OF, etc. DeAza brings a lefty stick, some pop, some speed, etc. & could fit very well in any number of situations for another club. Mainly because the Sox wouldn't need a ton back. DeAza is the type of player any team could acquire, but the Sox could still get value out of that. Just maybe no sexy names.
