flavum
Scioscia bringing a good lineup for Johnson to face. CSN and MLB Network https://twitter.com/EKayAngels/status/44630...3131904/photo/1 https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/4463...2879361/photo/1 Off day tomorrow. I'm guessing there will be a large group of roster cuts today. Very few guys on the bench today. Phegley not listed as a bench player or as an off day. He might be on the chopping block this morning. flavum
Update--Phegley and Rienzo are cleaning out their lockers. Heading to minor league camp. So are Wilkins and Surkamp. Edited March 19, 2014 by flavum
Princess Dye
Southside Sox kind of talked about a growing discomfort with Phegley's basics behind the plate. The arm is good but the rest lacks.

pettie4sox
QUOTE (Knuckles @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 10:51 AM) Nieto it is. They somewhat had to if they wanted to keep him. This is a huge jump for the kid. He was only in A ball?
justBLAZE
Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 2m Essentially it's down to Adrian Nieto and Hector Gimenez for the backup catcher slot. #WhiteSox staff is high on Nieto.
flavum
I would think they're trying to work on a deal with Washington to keep Nieto in the system. They'll go with Gimenez unless they make a trade.
Princess Dye
Perfect time to take a look at a young guy. We dont need to win right now. Improve the organization by sacrificing a roster spot. When you disabuse yourself of the notion that you need to be great this year...............you can do these things and grow long term. And put pressure on Nats to dump him to us for something near-worthless.

They'll go with Gimenez unless they make a trade. I think its the other way around; they'll go with Nieto unless they make a trade.
Jose Abreu
Still waiting for the big 3B/IF backup battle as well as the De Aza/Viciedo/(Jor[Dan)ks] battle.

Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 11:09 AM) Still waiting for the big 3B/IF backup battle as well as the De Aza/Viciedo/(Jor[Dan)ks] battle. There really isn't a battle unless there's a trade. It looks like it will be Konerko, Nieto, De Aza, and Keppinger. Semien may make it if Beckham is unavailable. Garcia could make the team if Keppinger starts on the DL. Danks may make the team if De Aza is traded. These are the things that happen when a team's owner forces the GM to keep an aging veteran around as a mascot.

Danks may make the team if De Aza is traded. These are the things that happen when a team's owner forces the GM to keep an aging veteran around as a mascot. All future World Series chances will be ruined because Paul Konerko is on the roster and guys like Semien and Garcia have to play in Charlotte instead of sitting on the bench in Chicago. Plus Jordan Danks might find a new organization. How awful.
Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2014 -> 11:55 AM) Isn't Jordan Danks out of options? If he is, I bet he gets traded. Donny Lucy's Avocado Farm
Gimenez just punched his ticket to AAA. Why throw to second on a stolen base attempt with a man on thrid and less than two outs? #ugh
