Leonard Zelig
Unfortunately our league had to drop down to 8 teams this year. Does anybody who has ever played in an 8 team league have any suggestions for roster sizes/positions?
juddling
are you using AL/NL players or only one league??? I have run a 8 team 5x5 AL only league for years........ We have C-1B-2B-3B-SS-2B/SS-1B/3B-Utility 4 OF's 3 Bench spots/1 IR 12 pitching spots........ I've only done a couple mixed leagues.....seen bigger and smaller rosters......personal choice by league GM i guess

Maybe one league is the way to go, except they are all going to want NL and that sucks for me.
juddling
I wanted to try a NL only this year but was met with a very lukewarm response to AL only again it is. To me it's more of a challange than AL/NL since you don't have a bunch of starters out there on the waiver wire or on your bench. Makes you do a bit of research and it's a nice feeling when you find that diamond in the rough or that one year wonder. The year Nate Jones went 7-0 was a great find for me...and T. Walker from Seattle was a nice pickup for me. We have our live draft coming up this Sunday night.....can't wait.....thinking of new draft strategy this year...we'll see if I stick with it or stay my course.... of course I did win my league last year so something was right..... SoxFan562004
Leagues that let SPs start in a RP slot because it's what the guy did last year drive me insane. I banished it from one of my leagues, forgot in other one I'm in.
Leonard Zelig
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 10:23 AM) Leagues that let SPs start in a RP slot because it's what the guy did last year drive me insane. I banished it from one of my leagues, forgot in other one I'm in. How do you prevent that if a player has eligibility? What about a guy like Mauer who has could be used as a catcher but hasn't played there this season?
royoung
I was hoping Soxtalk would have a thread like this, you deliever once again. I drafted Jose Abreu in the 12th round, I have Chris Davis at my 1B, but he's currently on the DL. I just got an offer for Abreu in exchange for Max Scherzer....sell high and get the ace? greg775
There must be a formula to winning fantasy baseball but I haven't figured it out yet. My office team is in last place again. Can't quite figure out baseball, how to build a winning team.
bmags
My team died when Jose Fernandez went on DL. Can't express how nice having 30 points automatically (sometimes 60) does to help win. I've been in the doldrums but took a flyer on Andrew Heaney weeks ago and Henderson Alvarez. I've been really pleased with Alvarez, and just hope like hell Heaney is bigtime. bmags
I got lucky last year with Jose Fernandez. Hoping to strike gold twice (obviously will not be that good, but I have quintana who is fantasy fools gold).
bmags
I was offered the following trade: Rendon Jaso 10th pick next year For: Mauer 12th pick (I have mauer) I have machado at 3b and bogaerts at SS in a 14 team mixed league. I love Rendon but I've bought high before. I like this trade, but I'm terrible at FF baseball, what do you guys think?
knightni
Mauer is not really much of a fantasy option except BA, and he loses his catching position in fantasy next year. Rendon has potential, Jaso is a decent waiver wire catcher. If it's a keeper league, and you are out of it, it's not a horrible deal. Rendon could be a top 10 2B in a few years if he stays there. Points league, singles 1, doubles 2, etc. Walks are 1, K's are -1. Stolen bases are 2 or 3, caught stealing are -1. Who dost thou take?
