ILMOU
QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 04:13 PM) Donnie Veal walking people....looks like we're back to normal Seems like every member of the pen is giving me some level of concern. Just ST, but pull it together, boys.
elrockinMT
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 10:18 PM) Seems like every member of the pen is giving me some level of concern. Just ST, but pull it together, boys. I agree. It is ST, but at this point you want to see relief pitchers shutting folks down and not adding fuel to the fire or handing them a match with walks
flavum
They'll use 14-17 guys out of the pen this year. Between injuries, guys sucking, and trades, it'll be a revolving door.

flavum
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 05:42 PM) Pretty sure Hawkins is now 0-6 with 5 K this ST Correct. Hope he saved most of his signing money. Must be nice getting a couple million for being able to swing a bat fast and hitting high school pitching. CWSpalehoseCWS
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 05:42 PM) Pretty sure Hawkins is now 0-6 with 5 K this ST He's a lost cause at the plate. He'll be lucky if he ever turns it around to be a .230-.240 hitter. I can't see him turning it around that much to be a productive player when he gets older, 20 yr. old or not. Something better click during this season, or he's a bust. I don't know what he can do when it comes to pitch recognition. It would seem you either have that skill or you don't. Wish him luck. Seems like a good guy. Edited March 24, 2014 by flavum
SCCWS
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 06:44 PM) Correct. Hope he saved most of his signing money. witesoxfan
QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) Marcus Semien has 142 PAs in AAA. I don't know if Beckham getting injured means that Marcus is ready. Gillaspie has modified where his hands are and as a result, he has seemingly lengthened out his stroke a little bit. Agree completely on part #1. If Gillaspie has lengthened his swing a bit, that's a good thing. The guy has power at the plate, but he was so short and quick to that ball that it was rare that he'd actually hit the ball with authority. caulfield12
Time and time again with toolsy high school outfielders, for every Buxton or Trout or Griffey, Jr., there's at least 10-12 flameouts in the first round. Other than high school pitchers, it's one of the riskiest picks, and the most tempting ones because of that potential word. Domonic Brown is about the best outcome we can hope for at the moment, unless he can somehow change his swing mechanics and pitch recognition skills. Eyeglasses? I guess the other thing to keep in mind is his relative lack of experience playing baseball...he was a football player first, and he's also gone through some dramatic body/weight/frame changes. beautox
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) 2015 opening day infield-- Davidson, Semien, Johnson, Abreu. Just have to be patient. I agree with being patient. I just think it'll look like this Davidson, Sanchez, Semien, Abreu. I like Micah a lot but I think Marcus is better suited defensively for 2B and Micah has a bit of work to do on his defense, that combined with the resurgence of Sanchez and out of the three of them, Carlos has always graded out as the best defensive middle infielder [i recall reading GG caliber at 2B] leads me to believe he winds up at short, provided he continues his development and we move Alexi after Abreu gets into the swing of things. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Alexei moved to the yankees at some point this year for our future catcher (murphy or sanchez).

GreenSox
QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 03:51 PM) Can anybody give one good reason why Beckham should be the starting 2nd basemen this season over Semien? Seriously. So we can trade him.
