Jake
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 12:29 PM) Though he probably wouldn't hit much worse than he did last year left handed. I'm guessing overall production goes down batting lefty (no more homers), but strikeout rate would actually improve. The relative lack of lefties he would face would allow for him to make a bunch of soft contact instead of swinging through sliders he can't reach
ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) I'm guessing overall production goes down batting lefty (no more homers), but strikeout rate would actually improve. The relative lack of lefties he would face would allow for him to make a bunch of soft contact instead of swinging through sliders he can't reach I don't think he could do anything BUT improve his K rate. It was over 30% last year, right?

caulfield12
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 12:43 PM) I'm expecting it now for a lot of these guys and I'll be more than willing to accept the "they're a bunch of rookies" excuse. But with Viciedo...we really do need to see progress in LF. He's been there long enough now that "initial struggles" ought to be overcome and if he's going to be a tolerable LF, he ought to start showing it. If it's a strict platoon, your question might only be partially answered this year. Maybe Hahn would like to keep both for 2015, and split up playing time in OF and DH among the four of those guys and the best hitting infielder on the bench.
