Jose Abreu
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) Looks like he was out when he switched hands. I think he barely got in. As he took one off, he got the other on without time in between.
elrockinMT
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 08:55 PM) Johnson's stuff is really bad out there. Do you think it's first game jitters? And if he happens in his second game I won't be asking that question
Dunt
Is Johnson seriously topping out at 88 like Gamecast says?

IlliniKrush
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) Looks like he was out when he switched hands. I saw what you saw. But if he believes Alexei helped his arm off whatsoever, he's still safe. I think that's maybe what Robin was asking about. I think Alexei did help his arm come off with some push. Jose Abreu
QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 03:59 PM) Is Johnson seriously topping out at 88 like Gamecast says? Not topping. It's usually 90.

If you slow it way down the fingers on his left hand come off briefly. Ump was shielded.

fathom
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 08:59 PM) If this team ever contends we need several different arms including starters. Got two years to worry about that, IMO. Adding a quick-riser like Hoffman should help the foundation of Sale/Quintana. After those two, it's anyone's guess about who could be in the rotation. caulfield12
Let's face it, the Royals had more motivation to win this game. Home opener. Playoff prognostications. For their season, starting 0-3...with how things have gone for them when fans had just about any level of expectations, you just can't lose to the White Sox. If we picked up those 2 runs right away in the first, the story might have been different.

Maybe that's where a free agent comes in. 2 years is a good estimate IMO.
Jose Abreu
I was praying Eaton wouldn't dive into first on that (he didn't). Edited April 4, 2014 by Jose Abreu
caulfield12
Didn't realize Semien and Johnson were college roommates at CAL. And now we know why they kept DeAza around...not only as trade bait, but insurance in case they need to send Garcia back down to work on some things (and the knowledge Jordan Danks isn't in the long term plans). Same thing with Davidson/Gillaspie. Or keeping Beckham/Ramirez. We might have been getting about 1/2 year ahead of ourselves, but we're just going to have to be patient and HOPE he can figure things out at the big league level. Another problem is that you don't want to move Viciedo back to RF again. Not until/unless Garcia struggles out there for 2+ months. Abreu chases a ball out of the strike zone for the K. Haven't seen much of that out of him. Edited April 4, 2014 by caulfield12

Harry Chappas
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) See Gordon's initial backpedal. Garcia needs to learn that. That is instinct and Garcia does not have it. You can not teach a player to be a better outfielder. His speed will make up for some short comings. The ball in the first he should have gotten to. It would have been a good play but he still should have gotten there. The fact this organization thought he could be a center-fielder is a head scratcher though. DirtySox
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 04:05 PM) Can't believe some of the comments towards Erik Johnson. Not only has it been only one part of one start, his velocity is way down. Erik Johnson will be just fine. Seconded. As with the majority of prospects, there will be growing pains. This is the year for it.
