I know it's crap competition, but Illinois can score in bunches. Nice to see them blown out teams again.

The team is absolutely loaded with shooters. They set an arena record in 3 pointers made last game with 15, going 15-28. Tonight they're 14-25. Absurd.

IU is going to pull some upsets if their backcourt gets hot.

I was telling my roommate last night, if Blackmon stays 3-4 years he's going to be a monster.

I don't see him as a one-and-done, my guess is he's a 2-3 year guy. But who knows at this point.

He's one of those shooters where every time the ball leaves his hand it looks like it's going in. So smooth.

I think you mean you hope he will stay that long. He and Russell are going to be going an interesting battle for freshman of the year.

Well that was my thought coming into this year, but I also didn't expect him to play this well. If he keeps this up all year, then yeah I'd expect him to leave.

But like I said, too early to tell for all of that. IU actually has a really tough non conf slate this year, so that will be an indication.

Well Illinois...gotta be better than that if you want to win.

Egwu has taken 8 shots in the first half including 3 3s. He's a really bad offensive player, so that should probably never happen unless they are all dunks.

He's had a really bad game on both ends.

Loving the defensive intensity to spark a big run, we need to learn to start every game like that.

IU loses to Eastern Washington, Big Ten really doesn't look that impressive this year.

I picked a good first game to not be able to watch.

Well, we knew they were going to be streaky. Doesn't make losing to Eastern Washington any less stomach-turning.

Its exactly what we thought they would be. Good and bad. I fully expect to see my boys lose some serious head scratchers but then take down some powerful teams. The Big Ten is talented but with really only one experienced team.

My concern would be that Indiana shot well yesterday, Eastern Washington wasn't on fire from 3 and Indiana still lost. Indiana will be able to score and they will have games where they are tough to stop but that is almost certainly going to be a really bad defensive team all year.

They made it pretty clear they are going to live by jacking up a hundred 3's and hope that allows them to win

And that is fine but you still need to defend and the only year Crean has put together a good defensive team at Indiana was when he had Oladipo and Zeller at the same time. Even with Vonleh who was a terrific interior defender last year they still weren't great on that end. With their current frontcourt they are very likely going to be really bad on defense all year.

Yeah, it really is Wisconsin and then everybody else. No idea how the standings will shake out this year.

The next 5 days should give us a decent view on where the Illini might be as a team this year. They're leading the NCAA in scoring thus far (crazy), but play Indiana St, probably Baylor, and then @ Miami in the next few days. I originally had them winning all these games before the season, but Miami looks better than I thought they would be. That's going to be tough.
