They have the @SFA win and the Wichita win so they got a few good one's. They don't have the ceiling of the last few Wichita State teams(or this years) as they're not as skilled but per usual they're really good defensively and Seth Tuttle is one of the better post players in the country. They're a top 15-20 team imo.

Thanks, good to see a little more info on UNI.

Not much of a resume as of yet, other than spanking Wichita St. at home and beating Iowa at a neutral site.

Their other three wins over Top 100 RPI teams...those opponents were all in the 80's.

It would have helped if they were able to match up with Iowa State.

The VCU loss by six on the road is probably their third most impressive accomplishment...high-scoring game.

Winning @SFA is a very, very good win. You might want to just look at rpi but SFA is 36th in Kenpom, they're pretty damn good and to beat them on the road is impressive.

I don't think they're a top 10 team but they definitely belong in the top 20.

Iowa State losing road games to Kansas and Oklahoma isn't really sliding far

They're both "good losses". But I do have concerns about how Iowa State has done on the road. They need to show they can win some hard games away from "Hilton Magic".

So far this season, away from Hilton (where they are 13-0)...

Neutral (2-2):

Beat Alabama

Beat Drake

Lost to South Carolina

Lost to Maryland

Road (2-4)

Beat Iowa

Beat West Virginia

Lost to Baylor

Lost to Texas Tech (ouch)

Lost to Kansas

Lost to Oklahoma

Kansas and OU are teams they certainly are likely to split with, so that's fine. But losing to Texas Tech was brutal, and the neutral court losses to SC and MD aren't great. Their non-Hilton wins are Alabama (meh), Drake (more meh), Iowa (a little better) and West Virginia (good).

I just don't know how they'll do come tournament time (B12 and NCAA) if they can't win a few on the road. Their remaining road games: OSU (21), TEX, KSU, TCU. They should really win two of those at least, maybe steal a third, then I'll feel more confident in the team's March chances.

And there's no guarantee they win their remaining three home games either, they're all tough: WV (21), BAY (16), OU (17).

Iowa went scoreless for 8+ minutes in the first half and are lucky to be only down 23-19 to Minnesota at halftime in Iowa City.

Sigh.

I guess it's better than the game in Minny when they blew a 17 point lead in the 2nd half and had to win it in overtime. Hopefully the poor performance is out of their system but you can never predict this team. This had all the makings of a "trap" game...Minnesota hasn't won on the road in the B10, and psychologically, Minny feels they definitely should have won that first game. Iowa's now 26th/27th in the ratings, so I was hoping that missing out on being back in the Top 25 would serve as a motivating factor. Usually, success/recognition leads to a backslide for this program.

Minnesota has also been in every single game conference game with the exception of 1, IIRC (6 conference losses; 5 of those by 5 points or less; only loss > than that was losing by 12 @ Maryland). This 2nd half will be a good test for Iowa's resiliency. Hopefully they can come back and pull out the win.
