Hawk just flat out said that MLB refused to overrule a call on replay to protect an ump who already had one overruled.

Which is one of the dumbest things Hawk has ever said.

There wasn't a replay that showed him safe. That one they showed from by the dugout, his foot was off the bag way after the ball was in his mitt, not sure what they were trying to show there. It's as likely that he was still on the bag when that was caught, replays didn't show anything different.

If you pieced together the shot from the front and back, it sure seemed like his foot was off the base at the time he caught the ball.

NY office must be bias against Sox ask Hawk!

I don't believe that to be the case, but MLB even said that the NY office doesn't get all the angles of the replay and flat out got the call wrong in the BOS NYY game with regards to the call at 2B.

Agreed, nothing was definitive in any of the angles they showed. If he was called safe and Boston challenged they probably wouldn't have overturned it either.

You're seeing something the NESN announcers and the rest of us didn't apparently ?? The definitive replay was basically shot from somewhere behind the runner along 3rd base and he was clearly off the base.

All the office in NY has to do is watch DirecTV . How hard is that ?

Bit if you piece them together as to when he had the ball in the glove and then use that information in the shot that shows the location of the foot, he was clearly safe. I thought the idea of replays were to get the calls right. Maybe what they should do is install cameras shooting every base maybe from an overhead so you get a better angle.

1) WCIU doesn't have whatever "definitive" angle you're talking about. That would be the angle you'd need, is directly down the first base line. Really, the guy who had the best angle there is the home plate umpire.

2) It's not if he was off the base, it's a matter of when. As long as that ball contacts the mitt before he's off, he's out. The majority of the time a guy comes off, everyone thinks he's safe, but in reality he actually had the bag at time of possession.
