I hope that's the case, but it's nothing but wishful thinking. Some guys blow out their elbows when they are 16 some guys blow them out in their 30s with over 2000 IP in the major leagues. To declare now he won't have elbow problems, while hopefully true, makes zero sense medically.

And a shoulder injury is the last thing you want to see with any pitcher.

Oh for sure, but Sale's motion puts a tremendous amount of strain on his elbow, more than the shoulder, if somehow he manages not to injure the elbow maybe it means he's just stronger built ligament wise then your average MLB pitcher. Now that won't help with a shoulder injury, but it's one less thing to worry about.

 

This is just a hairbrained theory anyways. TINSNAAPP and all that applies.
