I know someone who isn't convinced he is the real deal

Kyle, this may surprise you, but I'd love nothing more than to be wrong about Abreu being the monster some on Soxtalk believe he will be. It would be a much-needed shot in the arm for this franchise. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again. When you choose to give an opinion, it could be wrong.

One thing I won't do is hide behind some bootleg stat and say "if I knew he was going to do THAT ..."

Right, everyone that disagrees with you hides behind bootleg stats.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 26, 2014 -> 11:19 AM)
lol...

People freak out over Balfour's reaction in the dugout afterwards but I really didn't have a problem with that. Many on this board have said at times that we want to see a player be pissed when they messed up, show some emotion.

I think that I would rather have a pitcher of Balfours's talent as our closer right now over Lindstrom and I think that many on here would agree with that. That said, with his overall personality, being an ass clown and all, I really would not want him anywhere near this team.

I'm not freaking out per se, I just love watching him get upset after he started a bunch of crap for no reason.

He had a chance to look so smart, being the 1st to declare Jose a failure and a waste of $68M. If that 1 for 25 stretch had only lasted a couple more days. Bummer.

Yes, King of Soxtalk was within my grasp.

I disagree with Marty about a lot of things, a lot more things than I agree with him, but if you are going to call him out for this, you should call out 99% of the people on this board, and don't even bother reading a gamethread. There are some real doozies in that one. Last night you would have read Robin was "actively losing games" for the White Sox and Hahn need to fire him immediately for not keeping Johnson in to continue to get lit up. The statement made no sense then and even less now.

How many times has everyone watched the highlights from last night? Think I'm at about 20. Reading a lot of the national coverage too, he's re energized the franchise in a big way already.

This. I've been watching the highlights all morning.

I don't recall 99 percent of this board doubting Abreu, even in his bad streak. The Johnson stuff in the game thread was ridiculous though

Great thing about watching Balfour's reaction is you know how shocked teams are with the White Sox doing stuff like this offensively. Remember last year when it was over if the Sox were down a run or two? They were dead and done. Except for the injuries and the sickening bullpen, this year looks like the polar opposite of last year with the team, especially regarding emotion.

Some big hits in April from Semien and Abreu and Flowers and others.

Not Abreu specifically. There are very few White Sox that ever make it through a couple of years on this board without a decent amount of posters saying they have to go. It will eventually happen to Abreu.

Gamethreads, by their very nature, demand ridiculous hyperbole.

I get sucked in occasionally, but it's bad for the health.

Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 18m

Grant Balfour told Tampa reports no ill will was meant toward Paul Konerko. He was upset with himself for the walk.

Balfour: I totally respect (Konerko). He’s a great player. It was definitely not toward him. ... Just what I do. Just what I’ve done.

It's odd that you call me out when there are other posters who contribute to legitimate websites, not internet message boards, where your critique is missing.

Are these some of the bootleg websites you love to dismiss when they don't fit your narrative?

I don't call out other posters mostly because even if I disagree with them, they can back up their claim logically instead of trampling into other threads and making the same baseless claims as if they haven't been disproven or thoroughly picked apart.

Your shtick is old Marty, and it smells bad, and everyone sees it for what it is.
