Soxfest
I would love to see Victor Martinez take Dunn's spot next year. He would fit great in Sox lineup.

V-Mart's a good hitter, but you'd like to have a better bat as your DH. He's a .340-.350 wOBA guy, which is maybe barely above average among DHs. If he's still not hitting after this weekend, maybe they'll put Gillaspie into the 2nd spot when he returns?

flavum
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 09:30 AM) That would be nice. With an off day tomorrow, I fear this game ends up being a quick, 4-0 loss and they get the hell out of there. Say what?

The DH only DH has become passe. Martinez is going to take a huge paycut, as will Dunn.

southsider2k5
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) Cleto walking over a batter an inning, same as at AAA Memphis last year. How long does he get if his control doesn't improve? It is made easier and easier with guys like Putnam, Carroll, and Noesi showing good things. That lessens the amount of patience the team has to have.
chw42
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) .303 career hitter and OBP is .368 could do a lot worse than Victor at DH. You can do worse, but you have to realize he's 35 (36 next year) and he doesn't really catch anymore. He's a 1B/DH with an above average, but not spectacular bat. I would pay him around $10-12 million a year, but that'd be a 1 or 2 year deal. There's a chance he can decline at anytime.
