Jerksticks
We need a RH badass. I figure the one we select in the draft as a bonus arm. We need a guy for 2015 just like the Freddy Garcia trade. Who should we target for Mr. 10yr Anniversary? Maybe target a team weak at MI.
SouthsideDon48
Maybe try and trade for Michael Pineda if the yankees are tired of dealing with him? Or deal for Jacob Turner from Miami and see if Coop can fix him? Trade Sale to the Mariners for Taijuan Walker and James Paxton? Trade for Trevor Cahill from Arizona as another Coop project? Trade for Josh Beckett from the Dodgers?

caulfield12
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 3, 2014 -> 11:28 PM) Maybe try and trade for Michael Pineda if the yankees are tired of dealing with him? Or deal for Jacob Turner from Miami and see if Coop can fix him? Trade Sale to the Mariners for Taijuan Walker and James Paxton? Trade for Trevor Cahill from Arizona as another Coop project? Trade for Josh Beckett from the Dodgers? Cahill makes a lot more sense than Beckett at this exact point in both their respective careers. Of course, the problem isn't just pitching now, it's offense/defense/fundamentals again (see 2013, rinse and repeat).

Marty34
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 4, 2014 -> 05:49 AM) Kevin Gausman This is the type of guy that you can (from a Sox perspective) deal Q for. Get Gausman, sign Shields, and draft Hoffman or Rodon and you have a rotation with excellent stuff.
ChiSoxJon
If we were contending I'd be all over Beckett but I'd deal for someone young right now... my question is the f*** did we ever trade Danny Hudson for Edwin Jax, imagine if we still had Buerhle too

Marty34
QUOTE (raBBit @ May 4, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) When was the last time the best team in baseball traded their ace? I highly doubt the Sox will trade for a RHSP, and if they do, he will be a backend of the rotation starter. Back-end rotation guys happen, see Danks. No need to deal for one. GreatScott82
Unfortunately, the Sox still do not have the luxury of trading minor league talent for a veteran starting pitcher. Hahn's mission over the next 2 to 3 years is to quickly build up a strong young core of players and make the system deep. This is priority #1. I truly believe that Hahn will begin selling some of the veteran players as early as June this season. I expect guys like Beckham and Dunn dealt sooner than later. We obviously won't get much for Dunn, but I'm hoping Hahn will find a desperate team for Beckham. Hahn may want to consider selling high on Viciedo as well. I expect Hahn to be aggressive this Summer, but not in regards to adding veterans, but to simply add more youth.

ILMOU
Tank hit the 3 run homer, so we're buyers again, right?
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Get Sale back , get Johnson back on track . Hell maybe because of the injuries we found a guy like Carroll . Doesn't strike fear into anyone but he's a heavy sinkerballer which ought to play well in the Cell.

Oh for sure after Sale, Eaton, Conor,Paulino, Keppinger all come back and Johnson finds his mojo and Paulino gets his groove back we're good as gold with The Carroller in the rotation now. If Hahn can find a cost controlled young RHP and flip some of the excess from this team, then the Sox should be buyers. My post about JS was tongue in cheek, but I think Hahn should be looking, regardless

caulfield12
What have been the reports on Hanson at Charlotte in terms of stuff/velocity? Seems his last start was a pretty rough one. For now, Rienzo and Carroll seem to be holding their own. The bigger concern is back to Danks again. We already know what we have in Andre, but it will be interesting to see if Carroll can get on a bit of a mini-roll or if he ends up more like Axelrod. Will be rooting for him, as it's a great story.
