NorthSideSox72
Brian Balta (balta1701) was live at a couple Birmingham Barons games last week, took a ton of video, and wrote up two excellent analysis pieces. This one covers the hitters, including Micah Johnson, Rangel (ron-HELL) Ravelo, Trayce Thompson and others. Check out the piece, with video and analysis. caulfield12
I heard one of the minor league announcers commenting on this (referring to the long at-bats)...the White Sox organization should do the same thing. Any hitter who can manage to get a 10 (or more pitches) at-bat gets a free steak dinner. Simple idea, but it's amazing how much good instilling this type of philosophy from the very beginning of their time in the organization would do by the time they reach Chicago and Steverson. We're already seeing some of this out of Semien and Eaton, for example. Of course, a lot of it's currently ending up in K's for Marcus, at least for the time being until he can make some more adjustments. The players get a steak dinner for a 3 pitch inning, or more than a 10 pitch at bat. The players get a gatorade if they were a walk from an 0-2 count or have more than 5 foul balls in an at bat. Ravelo could buy for like 1/2 of his roster after that game.
Donny Lucy's Avocado Farm
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 12, 2014 -> 08:16 PM) Ravelo could buy for like 1/2 of his roster after that game. Ravelo has already contacted Jeff Skilling to put together a futures/commodities trading organization for all the steak dinners and gatorades he has earned or will earn in the future. Some of the lessor talented players will be able to buy these gatorades and steak dinners with their projected minor league meal money at a staggering discount. Rumor is the new joint venture will be called ENROVELO.
