flavum
QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2014 -> 07:36 PM) They might as well try to make him a reliever That would be doing him a favor. Polanco homered--didn't see that coming.
caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2014 -> 07:17 PM) Anderson doubled his walk total on the year. And Hawkins' K numbers continue to increase.
fathom
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2014 -> 02:16 AM) And Hawkins' K numbers continue to increase. And he's not hitting the long ball this month. Outside of Montas' start yesterday, not a lot seems to be going well for the farm system. flavum
Nestor Molina gives it up in the 9th. Terrible pitcher.
fathom
QUOTE (flavum @ May 24, 2014 -> 02:47 AM) Nestor Molina gives it up in the 9th. Terrible pitcher. How is he still on the 40-man?
caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2014 -> 09:10 PM) How is he still on the 40-man? Same reason we still have Mitchell, Danks, Axelrod and 1/2 the Charlotte roster there. I'm guessing they don't want to needlessly expose a better prospect to being lost at some point until they actually have to be placed on the roster. fathom
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2014 -> 04:53 AM) Did anything good happen tonight? Anderson doubling his walk total is the highlight for me.
Señor Ding-Dong
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) Did anything good happen tonight? @FutureSox 1h Keon Barnum has a 5-game hitting streak. He’s 8-17 during the steak. Just one double and no homers though.
CWSpalehoseCWS
Holy crap, I knew Keenyn Walker was doing bad, but I did not realize he's hitting .149! Too bad to see Jaye get torched too. I thought he might have some value after the year he had last year.

royoung
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) Did anything good happen tonight? Eh. No disrespect to Kevan Smith, but when he is the "Star of the Day," the top prospects didn't do anything that spectacular.
oldsox
It seems that with the collection of players in the Sox farm system that they would be able to find room for Sammy Ayala somewhere, just to see if he has a future in the game. Northsider, do you have a list of players held over at advanced spring training?
Rowand44
QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2014 -> 07:36 PM) They might as well try to make him a reliever This seems like an obvious move. If he can throw that hard maybe we can make him into a decent reliever.
LDF
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 24, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) This seems like an obvious move. If he can throw that hard maybe we can make him into a decent reliever. the problem is not throwing hard but the location of the pitch. if his fastball is flat and straight, all the batters have to do wait. location, location and movement of the fastball is the key. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (oldsox @ May 24, 2014 -> 08:02 AM) It seems that with the collection of players in the Sox farm system that they would be able to find room for Sammy Ayala somewhere, just to see if he has a future in the game. Northsider, do you have a list of players held over at advanced spring training? An official one? No, but reading between the lines I can give you most of the names... C Sammy Ayala C Jose Barraza C Dillon Haupt C Zach Stoner 1B Patrick Palmeiro 1B Jackson Laumann 1B Cody Yount INF Toby Thomas INF Christian Stringer INF Jean Almanzar INF Audry Santana OF Nolan Earley OF Dane Opel (may have been released, not sure) OF Thurman Hall OF Juan Ramirez OF Antonio Rodriguez OF Sam Macias RHP Brandon Brennan (rehab, likely KAN when assigned) RHP Adam Lopez (rehab, I'd think he goes to W-S probably) RHP Chris Bassitt (rehab, looking at ASB return, probably to BHAM) RHP Charlie Sharrer RHP Devin Moore (also may have been released?) RHP Jon Bengard RHP Brad Salgado (converting from infielder) RHP Yoandy Barroso RHP Grant Monroe RHP Drew Bowen RHP Jamie Patterson RHP Anthony Santiago RHP Mike Blanke (converting from C) RHP Nick Blount (SUSPENDED) LHP Chris Freudenberg LHP Carlos Diaz Then there are more long-term injured guys, not sure if they are in AZ or not; Jake Cose, Matt Zaleski, Stephen McCray And finally the LatAm guys from last year's DSL or who haven't played yet, I know Adolfo is there for example, along with a bunch of other guys in that realm.
