Possible Suitors for Gordon Beckham

Anthopoulos just told us besides a starter he would like to find a mainstay at 2b or 3b, and possible some bullpen help @MLBNetworkRadio

AA has always been asking about Beckham from the Sox. Now that he's hot, still relatively young, and has been having a good season, could this finally be the year they make a trade for Beckham?

Give them L Garcia, Marcus Semien and/or Bellisario and Downs

Now is the moment to move, and move on from, Gordon Beckham. The Sox have a number of options to replace him, he is going to be expensive soon, and he is starting to hit better. The BJs would be a good org to target since they have a lot of interesting pitching in the lower levels - a guy like Chase De Jong might be a reasonable return for a guy who, as recently as this offseason, was considered "cooked".

Other potential buyers include the Orioles, Braves, maybe even the A's. Looking at Fangraphs, a surprising number of competitors have gotten diddly squat from the keystone this year.

You trade Beckham, not Semien. Beckham is no longer cheap labor.

And for what he gives you, you definitely prefer to go with cheap labor if you can. Rather than pay that...for that.

If you trade players to keep those making MLB minimum you will always have a cheap team competing to stay out of last place. Money should not be the motivating factor at this point and especially if you are building a winning team

But if 2 players are able to put up similar overall numbers then it definitely should play into decision making.

Allow me to vent. If he trades Beckham he better do a better job than the Addison Reed trade.

Davidson appears to be a bust. Reed has 14 saves!!! It's like the Sox don't want to contend. How do you trade your only closer for Matt Davidson?? Ridiculous. The Sox would be in SO MUCH better shape right now; Hahn would be looking like a miracle worker right now if we had Reed.

The Sox bullpen would be light years better just with a solid closer like Reed.

If you trade Beckham, make it a good one, Hahn. Cause that Davidson trade totally pisses me off right now!! Bella trying to close out the Yankees two days ago was laughable. Sox should have won three of four vs. New York. Instead ...

Not even 2 months into the season. Relax man. Davidson is only 23 and they are saying that thumb injury might of impacted him negatively a little longer than expected.

Like Hawk said when Gordon broke his wrist, it takes a while for that strength to come back in your hands and wrists.

let me say, has anyone ever played ball with a finger/thumb injury, recovering from a broken bone. it takes

time..... I don't care how good or manly you are to man up so to speak.

however, let me further say, I am sure that a lot of poster / sox fan were happy when the trade was made. we

all thought we needed a 3rd baseman and we needed prospects. well Davidson was not quite ready, whether it was

b/c of injury, or skills, or head screwed on right .... he is not ready. look at his age as well. he will come around, if not this

yr, then next, count on it.

He may have 14 saves but past that (at least era wise) he's been no better than Lindstrom... who is now hurt....And the guy who probably had 2nd dibs a closer, Nate Jones, is also hurt. So the Sox are pretty much on closing option #3 here. How many teams out there if forced to use their 3rd different closer will be in a good situation?

It's easy to say it hasn't worked in hindsight and without looking at all the sides to it, but that was absolutely a smart trade at the time.

Not only did they get a guy who was viewed at the time as the #4 3B prospect in the league, but Hahn also seemingly had a plan for the bullpen. That plan, or so it appears, was to fill it with guys who don't give up the long ball.

*STAT OF THE DAY* Addison Reed so far has given up 6 home runs in 22 innings. So far Lindstrom/Belly/Downs/Petrika/Putnam/Webb have given up a combined 6 HRs in 140 innings.

Toronto. Baltimore. San Fransisco (Scutaro hasn't played well). St. Louis (Unless they trust Wong). Yankees (Brian Roberts?)

Beckham will likely be dealt this summer. We need to give Semien more ABs. What can we get back for Beckham? I'm thinking a Beckham deal would likely involve another MLB player and perhaps a pitching prospect.

Semien needs more minor league time

If Beckham sucks or Beckham is too expensive he will bring back nothing in a trade.

Well he has been good all season so far and AA has always been a Beckham fan and being rumored of wanting him the last 2 years.

17,075 on Memorial Day?

REALLY?

Were all of those fans Yankees' fans the last two days?

DJ marketing the Chris Sale start hard, lol. Saying how he would buy a ticket if he wasn't already coming to the game.

Great defensive play by Conor, two nice swings by Viciedo and Gillaspie to tack on some more runs hopefully.

He's got to have these numbers consistently for at least 250 at-bats before he has much of any value.

Unless another team's just completely desperate and overpays.
