Also, it would be really cool if the AL All-star game starter came down to Sale or Buehrle. Although I could see Phil Hughes sneaking in there since he's the home pitcher.

Don't think Mauer is making it this year , not just because he's struggled but 1b/dh is stacked

Sale missed too much time. He'll still make the team if he makes 6 more starts, but Buehrle and Tanaka are ahead right now. Hughes, Keuchel, Kluber, Gray, Darvish, Felix, Weaver, and Sale will be on roster I would think about 6 weeks away.

I'm confused about how Mauer fits in to the equation here.

Twins representative for the ASG, this implying Phil Hughes would probably make it instead

Yea people were saying how Mauer was going to make it because the all star game is in Minnesota and he's the fan favorite but even they have started to boo him and you just can't take him with the way everyone else is playing

No no no, I was referring to Phil Hughes being the starting pitcher for the game. He absolutely deserves to make the all-star game, regardless of where it's being played or needed to represent the Twins. I am saying I can see them giving him the nod to START over guys like Sale or Buehrle, simply because he is the hometown guy.

Can you imagine what that would do to NL hitters having to face Sale and Buehrle back to back?

Too bad we would have had to sit through the last two years, plus that horrible contract, to see it.

No, I meant back to back, as in consecutive plate appearances. Go face sale throwing his high 90s fastball and nasty slider in the 1st inning and then come up in the 3rd and have to deal with the high 70s changeup.
