Feeky Magee
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 12:34 PM) Oh, are we already at the "we hate rodon" stop on the white sox emotional rollercoaster? The bullying was bad enough. But no tweets about the White Sox? I hope not only we don't sign him, but we actually take money off him. Literally steal it. bmags
Zach Thompson: 6'7" 210lbs DOB: 10/23/93 Thompson is fairly new to pitching, but already has the plus velocity that many scouts look for. Thompson’s fastball will sit in the low to mid 90s and touch 96 mph but comes in straight too often, especially when he leaves it up. He also throws a changeup, curveball and slider, and all three will need a good amount of development in pro ball to become consistent weapons. He does have decent command of his pitches and has shown a willingness to go right after hitters, which could help his stuff play up. Although raw, especially for a college arm, Thompson should intrigue teams with his frame and arm strength. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2014/drafttracker.jsp

Soxfest
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) Draft grades: http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2014/6/6/57863...014-first-round Chicago White Sox MLB DRAFT 2014 MLB Draft live draft tracker Here's the best left-hander ever selected third overall: Steve Avery. The second best is Brian Anderson, and I'm not even sure which one. Eighteen percent of the #3 picks never made the majors at all; 47 percent of #3 picks have a career WAR under 1. Yet the White Sox are going to pay close to $5.7 million for Rodon. It's like these teams are pretending the history of these picks doesn't exist. Horrible pick. Best-case scenario: Randy Johnson Middle-case scenario: Jeremy Affeldt Worst-case scenario: Brien Taylor Grade: F What a stupid grade...........I guess we should of just passed. flavum
Callis said Thompson has #3 upside if he gets his slider worked out. Possible minor league starter, and then move to the pen.
Feeky Magee
6'6", Callis said he just missed the mlb.com top 200, 92-95 fastball, says upside is #3 starter, more likely bullpen. #197 on BA, #188 on scout.com

Feeky Magee
Strikeout rates in college were awful until this year, still not great at 6.39/9 but way up from his 3.5 first two years. Not exactly like he has elite control either, 3.3 BB/9. Project, I guess.

Soxfest
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 01:21 PM) Well this isn't an encouraging quote from Rodon..... "Q. Going to get a deal done with Sox? Your sense and feeling. A. I’m not really sure. That’s later down the road. In a month or so we’ll figure that out but I’m still trying to enjoy this moment, spend time with my family and enjoy the whole thing and let it sink in." I would tell Bor-ass IF you sign at deadline, promoting your client is later down the road. Use Scotty's company line against him. flavum
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6873059.story I'm tired of baseball players saying "it's a game of failure". Negative and cliche. Just play, and shut up.

The Ultimate Champion
Raw with upside, no problem with that pick either. Rodon is playing hard to get. Month my ass.
