I enjoy how most of his girlfriends tweets are about the Sox.

Yep, she must be a fan, thats kinda crazy how that worked out. But no tweet about her being ecstatic that dude got drafter by her fav team.

Of course not - Borass is giving her a billion dollars to keep quiet.

Anyone else hear Bruce Levine say that Schwarber was #2 on the Cubs board after Brady Aiken and that they would have taken him over Rodon.

Corporate spin in full gear there.

I thought this too, but maybe they wouldn't have taken him because they didn't want to pay him most of their slot money? Still doubt it though

White Sox and Cubs both with B+ grades...

With the Cubs, they really are going to have to sign 3 out of those 5 prep pitchers (Sands, Cease, Steele, Norwood, etc.) for their first two rounds to make any sense. Taking two catchers is just weird, especially since neither is slated to stay at that position, and both of those guys would be blocked by Rizzo at 1B.

As noted, Sands is a strong FSU commit and Cease is going off a near-TJ surgery and seems committed to Vandy where he can re-establish his draft viability a few years down the road.

I think draft grades in any sport are meaningless, but especially baseball. There is just way too much unpredictability with the draftees. There is a reason a No. 1 pick in the Draft has never made the HOF.

Sox draft Jake Jarvis, listed him as 2B. Callis said he thought he was considered unsignable, and he preferred him as a pitcher. Curious that the Sox would take a tough sign with the last of the slotted picks. Must think they have the money moved around.

The White Sox closed Day 2 of the First-Year Player Draft by taking high school second baseman Jake Jarvis with their 10th-round selection. It broke the trend of the previous nine rounds, in which the Sox only took one high school player.

"We're pretty excited in the 10th round to have a young high school player like that," said Nick Hostetler, the White Sox assistant director of scouting.

Hostetler compared Jarvis, out of Klein Collins High School (Texas) at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, to Chicago's seventh-round selection, Peter Jake. Both can pitch, but in both cases, the team wants the player to play the infield.

"Jake Jarvis has an ability to really swing the bat. He can get the bat head to the ball, and he's going to be a second baseman for us," Hostetler said. "We feel that with the ability that he has to hit, then it's a matter of time before he continues to rise through the ranks."

Jarvis received an offer from Texas A&M that initially led to concerns over his signability, but Hostetler said Jarvis's Draft stock rose after he put on a "good show" at a pre-Draft workout in Chicago on Monday.

"We feel comfortable and confident that we're going to get him done and in the fold rather quickly," Hostetler said.

HIghlights?

11-40 is a crapshoot, going to be some organizational guys taken especially MIFers, but about 11-20 or 25 are guys that maybe one day have a shot. Laumann is hoping there's at least one guy beyond 11 that can make it to the bigs hopefully more.

Also Laumann will let Rodon determine where he is. Expects Rodon pitching in 3-4 weeks, lowest he'd start A+, maybe Birmingham

And Laumann doesn't sound as if there's any concerns with Adams at all. Likes Frye, thinks he'll be on the fast track.

Yeah I think Frye will be fast tracked, too that pick. Signable guy but should be able to move up easily with his experience.

There really shouldn't be much concern about Day 1 players signing. If they don't, the team loses that pick's allotment. The Sox are going to be extra super diligent in that they won't be f***ed out of $1.2 million of their entire draft allotment.
