ChiliIrishHammock24
Trey's got that OPS up to about .800 now. If he can trim down those K's, he could be up to Winstom-Salem before too long. 26% K-rate isn't terrible though, but you'd like to see that to 20% or less, at least until that power comes around. Vance Law
QUOTE (bulokis @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:16 PM) how is he defensively? Maybe he can be a good utility guy. He's been our best player in the minor leagues this year. He's started virtually every game at SS over Carlos Sanchez, so presumably he can at least hold it down. OPS over .850. oldsox
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 12:48 AM) He's been our best player in the minor leagues this year. He's started virtually every game at SS over Carlos Sanchez, so presumably he can at least hold it down. OPS over .850. And he can't make anyone.s prospect list. Seriously, tho, was he hurt last year, or what? I'm trying to figure out why he hit only .230ish last year in AA.
Balta1701
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 09:19 AM) And he can't make anyone.s prospect list. Seriously, tho, was he hurt last year, or what? I'm trying to figure out why he hit only .230ish last year in AA. Saw him in person and honestly can't say why. He seemed like he was doing fine, moved plenty well, seemed athletic/in good shape, but wasn't putting it together after early successes at lower levels. He could be a guy things just clicked for. Some video of him from me @ the Futuresox youtube page:
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) Johan Cruz 3-5, 2B, HR for DSL Sox. Considering an all-glove guy, so if he can hit, he'll be state-side pretty quick. QUOTE (bulokis @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:16 PM) how is he defensively? Maybe he can be a good utility guy. He's supposedly at least average at SS, but not spectacular. He's also played some 2B and even 3B, no idea how he is there. He's learning the OF, doing poorly but that should be expected this early. I saw someone earlier say Saladino has been the best player in the minors this year - let's not get out of control, that isn't anything like true. He's hit well so far though, at AAA, and at the very least he's played himself into consideration for a future utility role with the big club. It's unfortunate he's picked this moment to click, when the middle infield in Chicago and Charlotte is already so damn crowded. Very like the Sox are going to trade one or two of those soon, and hopefully Saladino can get some more regular time at more native position(s). QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) How bad has Goldberg been this year. Yikes. He's been a disappointment so far. The Sox made him a starter at first, which they like to do with relievers they think are key to the future. And I thought he'd be pretty good. Now he is struggling even in the bullpen. He maybe needs to go back to Kanny and close games there for a bit to get some level of confidence and rhythm back.
