Hoyt complete game from May, 1983. The sound gets better after a few minutes. Quick game. Kittle homers.

Thanks! A great trip down memory lane, particularly getting, once again, to hear #53, Don Drsydale, calling the play-by-play, alongside his color analyst at the time, the One, the Only, Ken "Hawk" Harrelson. Double D and Hawk were a terrific broadcasting duo together, and would have been far more popular in Chicago had they not been the pair to replace Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall. And, of course, had they not been buried on Sportsvision, the Reinsdorf/Einhorn brainchild that...well, a story for another day.

If not for Dybber, Sox win World Series that one year. Hoyt would have pitched deciding game of ALCS and he was unstoppable that year, simply unstoppable. Dybber cost the Sox gold rings. Worst baserunning blunder perhaps in Chicago history.

Worst blunder by a Chicago baserunner, but not the worst in Chicago baseball history.

How could the Dybber be so fricking stupid?? Sox had the pennant won!

What is Drysdale doing broadcasting the Sox game?

He was one of the best btoadcasters. You get a job where you can get it. Why is Jim DeShaeis with the cubs?

Final game of 1990.

At the end, Sportscenter interviews Cecil Fielder after his 51st homer, with 6 yr old Prince with him.

Watching a couple innings of this game tonight. They said Fernandez had between junior college, minors, and majors-- 250 innings entering this game. Then he went 8 and threw 130 pitches in a game that meant nothing to the Sox. Times have changed.

I think Hawk needs to go back to doing color like he did with Drsydale. I know his ego wouldn't allow it, but he would make him sooooo much more tolerable....and he can go silent when things go bad and it wouldn't effect the broadcast.

They were a excellent duo.

Am in the process of editing the final game before the June labor impasse that shut down baseball for two months in 1981. Sox beat the Yankees 3-2. Excellently played game and Harry and Jimmy were at their best.

Includes an interview with George Steinbrenner who praised what was going on with the Sox and numerous biting references by Harry and Jimmy about the quality of the equipment they were using from WGN.

They also said a few times about how they thought the best equipment was at Wrigley Field because the Cubs played earlier that day and it was also shown on WGN.

Just a classic game from a good time to be a Sox fan in Chicago.

That was my problem with them. Which of course is not fair at all. Took me awhile to warm up to Hawk.

not to mention his failure to get a decent bunt down. I still have no idea wtf he was thinking running through the bag at 2b.

In the booth, the younger Hawk came across as arrogant to me, he's much more relaxed (ha!) and fluid in the pbp role now. Drysdale was awesome in the 83 season, I have some audio recordings of the game hi-lites that they used to run during the post-game show on the radio..."inside corner, strike 3 called and this game is over! Parrish doesn't like it but the Sox magic number is down to 5!" Ah, something like that...
