Carroll's rope has to be getting short.

And who exactly deserves to replace him? Not Johnson or Tommie Hanson in Charlotte. Paulino's still out.

Other than that, Chris Beck is probably the only pitcher at Charlotte or BIRM with MLB ability...although nobody believes he's ready yet.

Well, Carroll qualified for that $55,000 per year MLB pension with service time. So congrats to him and his family, that's huge.

That's awesome. Lot of money.

This prolly should go in the mlb central division thread, but the Royals are the team to beat in our division suddenly, folks.

With what hitting are they going to pull that off?

They have a great bullpen, pretty good defense, especially Gordon and Cain in the OF and Escobar at SS and Perez at C.

If Salvador Perez hits like he's capable of, along with Hosmer/Butler/Moustakas, sure. But how likely is that?

Luckily, the Royals don't have Jason Grilli as their closer. God, once again, another one year wonder at closer. That was about as predictable as Tyler Flowers falling off the map hitting-wise. 6 walks in the bottom of the 9th for Pirates' relievers. Sox-like.

Baseball sucks. We play the Royals way too many times, especially the first half. Ditto Cleveland, Detroit, Minnie. It's bulls***. Just have a balanced schedule, baseball! This is boring.

Baseball has not had a balanced schedule since 1969 when divisions were introduced. Surely you are not advocating eliminating divisions?

Gregory Polanco with 5 hits tonight, just hit the game-winning (if the Pirates can hold it) bomb after the Pirates blew a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the 9th in Miami, first MLB homer in dramatic fashion.

JEALOUS of a team that can actually scout/draft/develop outfielders.

0-10 with RISP. Eaton the lone bright spot.

Up to a 669 OPS.

Viciedo under 700 for the first time. Flowers at 687. Conor falling to nearly 800.

Even Alexei is down to 786, although his BA is well above .300 still.
