Quin
The Cavs defense is atrocious and everyone from Kyrie to LeBron to Love to Dion to freaking Tristan Thompson is just doing hero ball.
MexSoxFan#1
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 12:43 AM) The Cavs are a few favorable calls away from being 0-4. I knew they would have issues, but I had no idea they'd be this bad. I hate to toot my own horn and I know it's still very early in the season but I'm on record here as saying I don't believe the Cavs will be a contender this year, heck I'll be shocked if they make it to the ECFs. Just because they added LeBron and KLove, in my opinion, didn't make them the East's favorite. I still believe KLove is overrated (go ahead and sue me) and so is Irving. They'll improve later on this season but they can't touch the Bulls, IMO (health considering, I'm looking at you Rose). LeBron to Miami was a whole different situation, there he joined a top 5 elite former FMVP and a proven PF, all being overseen by one of the NBA's greatest minds, the godfather Pat Riley. OTOH, Cleveland has an unproven NBA coach and Cleveland is still Cleveland. The Cavs are not contenders THIS year. BTW, let me be the first to give props to the FO, I know it's the cool thing to rag on them but they've quickly built a deep team that has legit shooters, defense, post offense, rim protection, rebounding and top tier talent. Health is really the only issue with this team but that's something they really can't control. I especially want to give props acter the whole Carmelo episode, I was one of the few Bulls fans who didn't believe Melo was serious about coming here and frankly, I didn't want him, I hate his ISO game to be honest. Let him stay a loser in NY but keep getting them checks, to quote the wise Jalen Rose... Edited November 6, 2014 by MexSoxFan#

I'm far from an explosive athlete but when I sprain my ankles, I can't run or play ball for about a month. I also don't have the equipment and stuff Rose has. Kyyle23
There was a report that came out that suggested Lebron is letting this team sink, letting them learn the hard way that they arent what they think they are. Interesting strategy

Interesting strategy Well the East is so bad they will still probably make the playoffs, and that's all that matters. The only downside could be facing the Bulls in an earlier round. Interesting strategy It seems like an awful strategy. Is he trying to "create a culture" that says to act like a child when things aren't going the way you want? I've heard other theories that maybe he wants the offense to just gel over time and make it not Lebron-centric like it was in Miami and Cleveland before that. That actually seems like an okay idea. Chisoxfn
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) Bulls aren't healthy and still are winning games and imposing their will when the time counts. Wait until this team gets its players back for 15-20 games, and watch them flourish and curb stomp teams. I completely agree. Lots of new faces and defense takes time to gel. Offensively the spacing has been very good at times and we haven't even hit that many of our open shots (and there have been a lot in the various games). Pau is playing so aggressive, but he has to put in more work on the defensive glass. Just sloppy boxing out. This is on paper the best Bulls team since Jordan, imo. The interesting difference is that Phil had players like Jordan/Pippen, Kobe/Shaq, and Kobe/Gasol under him. Veterans and very competitive guys that had been to the playoffs before. Lebron is trying to do this for Kyrie, Love, and a bunch of unproven kids? *Shrugs*
bmags
We haven't seen what Cavs will be yet. Offensively right now, they seem to iso a lot, and that does not seem like the Blatt offense we've heard of. They are just standing around because they don't know yet what to do. And that said, Bulls have a lot of work too. They have a lot of new faces to work in (Gasol, Rose, McD, Niko, Brooks, realistically Snell) and you can see that defensively and offensively at the moment. Rowand44
Oh ya, both the Cavs and Bulls have a long way to go. The Bulls have at least been winning(against awful teams but wins are wins) but they certainly don't look great yet. That said, I agree with everyone that as much as I b****ed about the front office in the offseason, I'm really starting to warm up to this roster. If we're healthy in the playoffs, we got a chance. Jake
Before LBJ came to Cleveland, I said that Cleveland would be best off if they just got rid of Kyrie. I really think he's actively harmful for a team that intends to win. Wouldn't blow my mind if the conflict with LBJ could end with Kyrie going out of town for some more useful role player types
Jenksismyhero
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 11:17 AM) Sounds like a Phil Jackson strategy. He would often use such tactics. Interestingly Shaq mentioned this in the preview of the Knicks/Bulls game last week. They went like 10-8 to start a year because no one wanted to really learn the triangle. Then they did, and they dominated. I still find it odd that Lebron would do that. Why not, ya know, have a conversation with Irving? "Hey dick, pass the ball. Do you know who I am? Do you know who Love is?"

I'll be the first one to give you props if they don't make it to the ECF's. But once again, no chance that happens. Even if they get to the Finals, I don't think either one has much of a shot against the West. If healthy, the Spurs will dissect both of these teams. The Clippers will out run both teams. The Warriors will out shoot them (an especially bad match-up for the Bulls, who let teams shoot jump shots. The Warriors make jump shots).

Let him stay a loser in NY but keep getting them checks, to quote the wise Jalen Rose... You should look into trading stocks, you'd be a great stock trader. You are clearly overreacting here, the same way Sports Center blows up story lines when Lebron's team struggles the past 7 years. I wouldn't be worried about the Cavs even if they play .500 ball for the rest of 2014. Now, if they are still struggling next February, then all this panic may justify. OTOH, the Bulls hasn't really look all that great so far. They are losing their edge on rebounding, their defense is far from stellar, and they looked uninspired after the first 2 games. Not to mention they are in the mid of the easiest of schedule in the HISTORY OF NBA for their first 8 games. We also have a long way to go before calling ourselves true contenders. And realistically, I still say Cavs have a much better chance at making and winning the ECF, given Rose and Noah's health. People keep using "if Rose stays healthy" as a condition for Bulls success, but don't really factor in the likelihood of that actually happening.
