RockRaines
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) Would make for a great NBA season if Melo went to Chicago, Bron to Cleveland, and Bosh to Houston. Would create a few more extremely interesting teams to watch. In theory, Melo going to Lakers would be interesting too. Both would be more interesting then Knicks and create quite a few teams who could be contending for the title. At least spreads the wealth out a bit. I would love our chances to get to the finals obviously.
MexSoxFan#1
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) I don't really find that all that crazy of a move. I guess it's a combination of me not thinking much about Love and my belief that Wiggins is the real deal.

Soxbadger
The hold up is presumably that they keep asking guys like Bosh to take less and less, while teams like Houston are telling Bosh theyll give him the moon. Meanwhile Lebron seems in no rush to actually commit to Miami, which has to leave Bosh wondering what is going on.

Will be hilarious though if Parsons agrees to offer sheet on day 1 of free agency to mavs (rumored to be hot on his heels) which severely restricts their cap space immediately. Also depends on dumping Lin.

I would really like how young our team is. You have Rose, Noah, and Taj who we could call the "old" guard (the latter are 29 and Rose gets the "old" designation for knees). Dunleavy is clearly a veteran presence. Then you have McDermott, Butler, Mirotic, Snell, and Parsons? I love that young, projectable core.

He can shoot and space the floor for us. Sure, he's not Melo or Kevin Love, but he'll contribute offensively with his shooting and he can probably be a decent defender under Thibs given his size and athleticism. That will severely limit the bulls going forward from being rumored to land the next superstar whom will spurn us. If anything, Derrick Rose is going to severely limit the Bulls' ability to get a superstar in free agency in the future. He's being paid $20 million a year to rehab and unless he returns to his pre-injury form and stays healthy, he's going to be severely overpaid. In fact, the Derrick Rose rule (where guys finishing their rookie contract can get 30% of the cap instead of 25%) might cost the Bulls a chance to sign Melo. Without this provision, the Bulls would have around $4-5 million more to offer Anthony per year. In hindsight, Derrick winning the 2011 MVP might have been a very bad thing. bmags
Well yes. I hope when Derrick is up for signing an extension, he is back to all star form, and takes a discount after the past 2.5 years of not playing.

Parsons is a long-term move, obviously. He's young and he'd need a 4 year deal. You can probably get PP on a 2 year deal at a slightly lower price. Pierce is the type of player the Bulls desperately lacked last year: somebody who can shoot it in crunch time. He might only play 30-32 minutes a game, but with McDermott you can afford to have him do that. With a healthy Rose, Pierce you'd have two guys who can create their shot in isolation situations. It's not ideal since Pierce is nearing the end, but he actually had a very effective year last year in Boston despite the limited touches. Well, yeah, but Deng plays legit defense, and still anyone with a brain hated his contract. You don't win titles by giving Chandler Parsons 12 million a year. What the Bulls are looking at is trying to win titles, finally. A move for Chandler Parsons at $12 million/year would be right in line with what they were happy doing the last decade. And let's not pretend that Parsons is somehow a defensive liability. He's 6'9 and he's pretty athletic. We lived with Mike Dunleavy at the 3 last year. I think we can live with Chandler Parsons.
