Bill Simmons is saying Afflalo and Melo to Bulls is "very possible"

I don't think the Bulls' FO is this creative.

Afflalo as the #2 piece this winter is fine. As the #1 piece is a disaster.

Yea, but they also had to spend the money, it wasn't something they could pocket for later. And Boozer did fill a need.

It was just a massively disappointing alternative to what we wanted and was yet another swing and miss by the FO

David Lee was who I was wanting after we missed out on big ones. GS got him off the scrap heap late in free agency.

Exactly.

It was like, "Oh we missed out on the big ones, we freed up and have all this money...um, here Boozer. See! We spend!"

Actually my memory was that a number of people were generally content because the Bulls had filled their PF slot while still leaving themselves enough money open for Lebron, who was still a few days from "the Decision".

I for one hated it and I'll admit that Boozer actually outperformed what I expected him to do.

I must be wrong on timeline of events. Thought he signed Boozer after The a Decision but think you're right. Still didn't want him.

I would have liked him as well, but at the time Boozer had a little more shine on him

I think Boozer from afar is good, when you get him up close you see the warts

Bosh and Wade announced they were teaming up first, then the Bulls grabbed Boozer and then a couple days later Lebron took his talents to south beach.

At least he was fairly healthy with the Bulls, which I think was the main concern with him at the time of the signing.

However, I don't think I expected his game to deteriorate so much like it has in the past two years.

Boozer looked like a great signing in 2010 when Noah was hurt. He was scoring 20+ a game on good efficiency. Then Noah came back, Boozer sort of got hurt, and he was awful down the stretch and in the playoffs.

A sign?

(Those are apparently Pippens kids BTW)

I can't tell if this has been officially posted yet or not.

New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is doing his homework on the city of Chicago as the deadline to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract approaches.

According to league sources, Anthony has talked to at least one high-profile person who lives in Chicago about what it's like to be famous in the Windy City.

Tom Thibodeau reportedly has reached out to some of Carmelo Anthony's former coaches as part of the Bulls' background check on the potential free agent.

The Chicago Bulls are one of several teams with whom Anthony would consider signing if he decides to test free agency this summer, sources recently told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

The Bulls also have reportedly done their due diligence on Anthony in recent days.

According to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau has reached out to some of Anthony's former coaches to inquire about the seven-time All-Star.

Anthony has to inform the Knicks by Monday if he intends to opt out of the final year of his contract and test free agency. Throughout this past season, Anthony had indicated that he intends to become a free agent this summer.

Anthony's research regarding Chicago -- and Thibodeau's reported background check on Anthony -- is the latest indication that there is strong mutual interest between the former NBA scoring champion and the Bulls.

Just so the official update is posted.

Carmelo Anthony has informed the New York Knicks in writing that he will opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent, according to multiple sources.

The Knicks recently expressed the hope that Anthony would not do this. Team president Phil Jackson said recently that he hoped Anthony would consider opting into the final year of his contract and testing free agency in the summer of 2015. Jackson has privately expressed that hope to Anthony several times since the end of the regular season.

Call me when they actually are able to add a star, without being lucky in the draft. Until then, it is all bs.

Exactly. I have complete skepticism until GarPax actually consummate a deal for a star. Lucking into Rose does not count.

We no longer make moves to accommodate Derrick Rose. We hope and will be prepared for him to be an MVP, but we'll be just as prepared for him to be absent. Carmelo is the target that makes by far the most sense. f*** Kevin Love.

I bet there are trades on draft day. Is Cleveland really going to pick No. 1 again rather than trade after last year's disaster pick?

If no trades, I see it this way.

Cavs - Wiggins

Bucks - Parker

Sixers - Embiid (still)

Flip the first 2 and I think you've got it. I think Parker will go #1 to Cleveland. Wiggins #2. I'd take Wiggins #1 though.

Wait, we are going to trade Mritocoic with Snell / MJD? Why would we do that? Or are they implying those guys would replace MJD?

The report was put out Love's camp

I don't care who put out the report. SOMEONE needs to get their ass on the phone and recruit out of that family. Especially if you want to go public and comment on the roster at various points, you really should be doing something to help it. If you aren't going to help then STFU.

They (Rose and Love) have already talked about playing together years ago. They work out together. I doubt their desire to play together has gone away..

Lebrons girl posted something about Cleveland on instagram...Looks like the big 3 might be breaking up.

Well said. I will never understand Rose's stance on not recruiting players to join him.

WindhorstESPN Brian Windhorst

LeBron's wife Savannah put a pic of Ohio on Instagram. She's just happy to spend summer in Akron as usual, it's not a free agent comment.
