ChiliIrishHammock24
I hate Hawk's "If you just get 15 bunt hits a year, that will add 30 points to your average." saying. Because that assumes that all 15 of those bunt singles would have been outs if the guy had just swung normally.
Jose Abreu
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 07:36 PM) I hate Hawk's "If you just get 15 bunt hits a year, that will add 30 points to your average." saying. Because that assumes that all 15 of those bunt singles would have been outs if the guy had just swung normally. It would really add about 22 points per 650 at-bats. And that's true, 2-6 of them would likely be hits.

ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 07:38 PM) It would really add about 22 points per 650 at-bats. And that's true, 2-6 of them would likely be hits. Well Hawk is obviously using 500 AB as the benchmark in that scenario.

Feeky Magee
I remember during his streak when some people were predicting Tyler would finish the year hitting .250 and people thought it was very pessimistic. July 2nd, .233 And that's with a meh amount of walks and power way down

CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 06:09 PM) Jose taking pitches He better take pitches. With men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs the pitcher is extra careful because a walk sets up the double play so would be foolish for Abreu to be swing happy in that situation.
