RockRaines
At least this run was because of a hard hit ball unlike the ninth inning.
fathom
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 10:37 PM) No, it's lack of talent. Yep, and as I keep saying, at least the core of this team looks pretty damn good (Abreu, Eaton, Sale, Quintana) This season would suck a lot more if those guys were bad and guys like Dunn and De Aza were playing well. Capn12
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 06:39 PM) Yep, and as I keep saying, at least the core of this team looks pretty damn good (Abreu, Eaton, Sale, Quintana) It is a sad realization, when I look at that, and realize that the 'core' consists of only 4 players, well 5 if you count Avisail possibly....so so many holes in this roster to fill. Erik Johnson tanking definitely hurts. As you said, lots of spots available for players to earn. Hopefully guys like M. Johnson and Davidson perform better than Semien. Add the set up man and closer to this pen and it's not too bad. Also our 3B isn't too bad of a hitter. Edited July 5, 2014 by RockRaines

RockRaines
And they go out with a whimper. After so nicely setting them up with a two run lead in the ninth This pen is so chokey
Capn12
Well, at least the blown lead wasn't another Quintana lead. 5-7, with a 3.20 ERA...what support.

Capn12
14 innings, 4 hits. Comical. Part of that I expect with Felix, but post-Felix, what'd we get, 1 hit? Wow...
ILMOU
Third or 4th time this year, at least, Robin has left a reliever in for a third inning/pitch count of 50+/seeing batters a 2nd time, leading to a loss, and this time he still had a long man Rienzo, and Webb in the pen. The man truly has the magic touch.
iamshack
I'm glad Robin thought we should bring Surkamp in to face Cano. This guy is the biggest clown of them all.

Obviously, there was plenty of suck to go around. I think the pen was played well today, they just didn't do their job. Quintana was pulled for jake which was good, they played Canos splits vs lefties and unfortunately ours sucks balls. Then Putnam choke on horrible pitch selection. And the offense did NOTHING. iamshack
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 04:07 PM) People will find any reason to blame Robin for a loss.....Had he left Jake in there and he gave up a hit I'm sure people would point out Canos splits. Maybe so, but that's what he deserves when he manages like this. He either micro manages or he manages like he's asleep and does nothing. When you've got young kids in a save situation, bring them out to start the damn inning themselves. If Cano hits a home run, so be it. But don't bring in Surkamp like he some kind of a huge improvement over the Putnam matchup.
