I agree, not at all. I'd rather see Semien up for good in Beckham's place. Would like to see them do everything they can to get Sanchez to stick at SS.

Semien should definitely replace Beckham if/when he's traded. His OPS is creeping up to the .800 range despite a BABIP that is a good 50 points below his career average. The BB & K rates are close to his Southern Leauge MVP numbers and his ISO is even higher. I think he's much more ready for the big leagues than Micah is at this time.

I've said it before, but I actually think Semien would be an upgrade over Beckham right now. IMO, there is absolutely no reason not to move Gordon before the deadline.

They had Saladino at short for most of the season with Sanchez at second. Should we assume Saladino is the better defensive shortstop?

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if it's Saladino or Sanchez that get the first shot on the heels of a Beckham trade. Regardless, really looking forward to Gordo's departure, sadly.

Yeah adding Micah to the mix makes this team a lot more watchable. Semien is nice, but not the same level of prospect & not nearly as exciting IMO. At least Micah has one tool that makes you go "wow."

Semien is the best pure hitter in the Sox system. I don't care if he's exciting or not.

I really hope this is not the case. I'd say that he's definitely the most polished and most MLB ready at this point but best pure hitter? That implies a lot and personally I don't follow our system close enough to put that tag on anyone but I sure hope that guy isn't Marcus because if it is we could be in even worse shape than it looks.

Ok I should've said I wana see Micah for the last two months. Just to see him. His speed is electric. Would just like to see him get some majors ABs to see how he'd handle it. Semien would definitely be my starter for next year though.

If Semien is your starter for next year, then you want to see Semien over the last two months. It seriously makes absolutely no sense to bring up Micah Johnson for 2 months while Semien remains in AAA only to demote Micah Johnson at the beginning of next season to bring Semien up to start full time. Think about the logic behind it.

If you want to see Micah play, you can get an MiLB subscription. They are fairly cheap and you can see all kinds of talent. I don't mean to be a jerk about that either, but just because you want to see a guy play doesn't justify them being on the MLB roster.

I guess it depends on how you define "pure hitter". To me, a pure hitter is someone with elite pitch recognition skills, and Semien is the only one in our system with that talent.

Rangel Ravelo comes to mind. He hasn't reached the level of Semien in Birmingham last year, but something has obviously clicked with him.

He hasn't sold me on this quite yet, was that just a result of him being rushed?

Yeah, it looked to me like he was just overmatched. To my eyes, he struck out a bunch because he got TOO deep in counts and wasn't able to handle big league wipeout pitches.

There's no logic here. You obviously don't want to "rush" Semien so you keep him in the minors while giving Micah two months of experience. Then next year Micah is in the minors and Semien is our starter cause you don't want to rush Micah.

I'm sick of the cliche about not rushing players. Semien clearly is ready to sink or swim. Playing Micah two months while telling the world he will not be on the big league team next year just so you aren't accused of "rushing him" is dumb to me.

Trade Beckham and let Semien do well or fail on the big league level.

No. He clearly was not. No one who watched him in April and May would write that.
