2015 MLB Draft

At the moment, our ChiSox would have the 12th overall selection in next June's amateur draft, however most of the league is bunched up, really early but here are some prospects I, personally, like for us:

Round 1:

RHP, Mike Mattuella, Duke (hard throwing righty, great size, could go 1.1)

SS/OF, Jahmai Jones, GA-HS (athletic toolsy OF with good swing, questionable defense, KW should love)

RHP, Carson Fulmer, Vandy (hard throwing righty, K guy)

2B/SS, Dansby Swanson, Vandy (line drive hitter, great contact, plus speed, amazing glove, CWS MOP)

RHP, Kyle Funkhouser, L-Ville (throws hard but wild, has plus sliders, fastballs, and change-ups)

OF, Skye Bolt, UNC (Athletic switch hitter, contact hitter, potential power, huge arm, great glove, versatile OF)

RHP, Kyle Cody, Kentucky (HUGE 6'7' 245 lb. with 97 MPH FB, needs to work on control and secondary pitches)

RHP, Tyler Ferguson, Vandy (Great size, throws hard, solid secondary stuff)

RHP, Grayson Long, TAMU (FINALLY, Addison Reed's successor, future closer, loose arm, throws hard)

RHP, Cody Poteet, UCLA (athletic hard throwing, hard working righty)

LHP, Cole Irvin, Oregon (Projectable lanky lefty, throws hard, great control)

Guys in the later rounds:

LHP, Mark McCoy, WF/Rutgers (solidly built lefty, HS legend in NJ, tore up Cape Cod League, former HS QB)

RHP, Jamies Winston, FSU (Amazing baseball talent, hard to pull away from NFL and FSU but he could either sign cheap and change his mind, not sign, and save money for '15's version of Bryce Montes De Oca, and promote the ChiSox and farm system)

OF, Rhett Wiseman, Vandy (great defensive OF, high energy, CWS champion, contact hitter, solid speed)

OF, John Norwood, Vandy (Big time power, big size, CWS champion, hard worker, can be big time steal)

I was going to make this thread, but I guess I can combine my info with yours.

Please go right ahead, probably know more than me, sorry for doing so, just post your stuff right in here

Do we have similar tastes just for the hell of it? Like any of these prospects for us or just in general?

s***, there was some slugging 2B that I had seen in another list that I really wanted to see come to the Sox. His last name was Kyle I think. Too lazy to look him up.

Couldn't help you because I don't know any power hitting 2B besides Bregman from LSU

As of today, the Sox would have the #14 pick. I expect that they will probably end up in the 9-10 range. It would be nice if the Sox could pick up a supplemental pick at the trade deadline this season.

is that taking into account the astros pick for aiken? and does protection extend to #11 because of that?

Everyone is so jumbled up right now. Last I knew, no team has a less than .400 win percentage. A long losing or winning streak could move the Sox 10 slots in either direction.

By supplemental pick, do you mean international pool slotting? I thought you could only trade competitive balance picks and the like? Am I mistaken?

It is taking the Astros extra pick into account, and I believe that protection does extend to 11 because of that. There is a lot of baseball to shake out and I expect the Sox will probably climb a few more spots as teams like Miami, Boston, Tampa, and the Mets put some wins together. I think it will be hard to climb much higher as most of the teams beyond that are content with tanking.

The current order is:

1 Texas

2 Houston (comp)

3 Colorado

4 Cubs

5 Houston

6 Arizona

7 San Diego

8 Philadelphia

9 Minnesota

10 Miami

11 Mets

12 Boston

13 Tampa Bay

14 White Sox

15 Kansas City

16 Cleveland

17 Toronto

18 Yankees

19 Cincinnati

20 Seattle

21 Pittsburgh

22 Milwaukee

23 St. Louis

24 Baltimore

25 Dodgers

26 Atlanta

27 San Francisco

28 Washington

29 Detroit

30 Angels

31 Oakland

Supplemental picks will be awarded at the lottery draft on Wednesday at 1 pm. Eligible teams are the Athletics, Brewers, Cardinals, D-backs, Indians, Marlins, Orioles, Padres, Pirates, Rays, Reds, Rockies and Royals.

I want a top ten pick this year and another top 15 pick next year. I think a few trades are coming that will guarantee a top ten pick, which will really benefit the team because the draft is pretty solid.

If this franchise is sub .500 for 3 straight years, we have really big problems.

Yeah, lengthy rebuilds really aren't in the team charter.

Those are not comp picks. They are called Competitive Balance picks and they can be traded immediately. I would love if the White Sox could acquire a pick or two. Also, Only picks 1-10 are protected regardless. Whoever finishes with the 10th worst record will choose 11th and therefore be screwed. It happened a couple of years ago. The Mets wanted to sign Bourn and couldn't because they would have lost the 11th pick.

No, remember that the Sox hired Robin with the assumption and expectation that team would be rebuilding. Honestly I do not see the team being competitive till 2016, and I expected them to win around 75 games this year.

I agree and by then I think we'll be competitive for about 5-6 years, the team should hopefully be loaded by 2016 all around, I can't take this rebuild but it's alot better than when we "retooled" with Manny and Dunn and Griffey and Rios and Peavy and Teahen
